If it does it at all speeds, I would look at the controller. Loose plug or contact inside it. If it does it only in low speeds or only high, replace the resistor, behind the blower.
Testimonial: "It does it only in cold weather and at any speed. Is the controller hard to get at and is it expensive? What would you suggest to clean the contacts? Thank you for responding"
The controller is what you use to set speeds and temp. Right in front of you. The bezel pops off, then remove the screws holding it. Plug the plug, check for corrosion. White to greenish color. This can be cleaned with battery cleaner. Spray it on and push it into the plug. Use brake clean to clean that out. You need rags because of being inside the truck. Plug it in and see what happens before putting it all back together.
As far as taking the controller apart. You better make sure you can get one first. I take all kinds of switches apart. But not always fix them. I figure they are already broke, How much more can I break them. Controllers have many parts in them, they have to go back in the same spot. When it comes to digital controllers, not much you could do there. Unless you do electronics. Yours is not digital.
Thanks very much I'll try all of that
