Besides a safety --the cruise control uses the information-input from the abs/wheel sensors to control speed look at the wiring connections of the abs its the wire that behind the wheel and goes towards hub for damage or debris also check hub/wheel bearing maybe going bad and fluid level in transmission and sensor wiring at transmission

That is normal for cruise, ( its goes dead, when there are other dangerous conditions, or jeep gets lawsuit like TOY did)
did you scan it yet.

look for ABS failures. or Traction control)

You need to take the jeep to a dealer or a good mechanic who can retreive the codes out of the computer. You may have a module problem but I will not guess without knowing the codes.

Liberty 2006 : Cruise control and fog lamps are not working... Lamps are not burnt out. Cruise light indicator does not light...

It sounds like your multifunction switch has an internal failure and needs to be replaced. This is the part that you flip to use the turn signals, wipers, cruise control, fog lamps, etc. This can be an expensive part, but it is almost certainly the cause of your concern.

Let me know if you'd like to know how to replace it. It is a fairly easy part to replace.

Hope this helps!
