Check B/U LAMP fuse 10amp. in the under hood fuse / relay center ! Do you keyless entry or without keyless entry ? The power goes through the transaxle range switch ( only has power when in park ) Do your back up lamps work ?
Without Keyless Entry
The rear compartment lid release switch supplies voltage through CKT 56 when the following conditions are met:
?€¢
The vehicle is in the PARK position.

?€¢
The rear compartment lid release switch (trunk) is pressed.

This energizes the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid. The solenoid releases the rear compartment.
When the vehicle is in a NON-PARK position, the rear compartment lid lock release actuator solenoid is inactive. The rear compartment cannot be released with the vehicle in the NON-PARK position. Hope this helps out an good luck !

Check trunk release solenoid for power and ground when applied from switch. If power and ground ok, then release solenoid is the problem in the trunk lock mechanism. If misssing power or ground, then electrical diagnostics will be required

Trunk release relay

There's a switch in the lock itself in the trunk if you have a continuity tester check the release button first then the wires going to the trunk make long jumper wires from speaker wire and check for continuity then try jumping the lock itself with battery power and see if it works there is an accessory relay for that stuff but is everything else working door locks windows etc. ? That's in your passenger fuse box if all is working that's not it and go with the continuity checks pull out the glove box switch and touch the switch pins with each lead then press the button if the tester light comes on or meter beeps the switch is fine go to the wires next and do the same thing one end at the glove box plug to the other in the trunk for each wire if they light up or beep all good and the lock maybe bad if no beeps or lighting there's a wire break and check by sections at a time good luck stephen

2009 challenger trunk button doesnt work

Sounds like you have blown a fuse. This fuse is usually one of the fuses under the hood, in the black fuse block. It will likely be one of the fuses that is in the YELLOW carrier. Test the fuse and replace with the same size fuse. By testing, I mean that you should use a test light and touch the top exposed metal parts of the fuse. If the test light is hooked up to ground (metal of the car) the test light should light up on both sides of the fuse. If there is only power on one terminal of a fuse, that is telling you that you have a blown fuse.

What might be wrong with the trunk release on this 2007 Cadillac DTS? (It's not the valet switch)

Which fuse were you checking? There are two fuses in the trunk release circuit - one underhood (ALDL) which feeds the trunk/fuel door release circuits via the valet switch and also the ALDL circuit; and one under the back seat (BODY fuse) for the trunk release.

Unfortunately, relay control signals for these releases run through the IPM (Instrument Panel Integration Module) which handles the release buttons on the dash, and the RIM (Rear Integration Module), which receives these signals from the IPM and handles them and the trunk release button on the keyless remote.

If the fuel door release is working at the dash and the trunk release is not, the ALDL fuse should be OK and the problem may still be with the BODY fuse, trunk release relay or wiring. If that isn't the problem, then I suggest you check for IPM and RIM DTC's (error codes).

Trunk won't stay closed

if its not getting power it should close no problem, the trunk releases when power is supplied by the remote release switch, check for the latch if its stuck open, you could have a broken spring or something causing it to stick open

2003 Toyota Avalon. Trunk release button on dash does not work. I do not have any power coming to the connector that attaches to the button. Checked with volt meter.I checked with button in glove...

check the continuity of the switch/s sounds faulty to me... you have checked every thing else....but it may very well be a relay... all power comes from the box for that type of stuff except the switch itself (switched power) which i think has its own line perhaps to its own fuse on your model ..not sure

Trunk release button on 2001 ford focus will not work

So your trunk release button on the dash dpesn't seem to open the trunk.
Does your key fob button open the trunk? yes....then could be problem with switch but read on.
no......are your power door locks not working as well. not working.....check
fuse, on 2001 Focus the fuse is a 20amp number 63 on the back of the fuse panel under the dash. Pop cover off and undue the rwo screws. hold plastic retainers and pull off the fuse panel from metal frame. pull fuse panel down toand turn over so you can see the fuse.check fuse. blown? yes.......replace fuse with good one. test all door locks open/close then check fuse...if its blown the problem is something to do with the door lock circuits. if the fuse is still ok...try pushing the trunk open button. fuse still ok? then I am a loss toas to whats the problem but if the fiuse blew when trying the trunk button your problem is the trunk latch circuit.
Now if the trunk latch button is popping the fuse then disconnect wiring to
trunk latch (in trunk) and try the button again. Still blowing the it is the electrical before the trunk latch unit. If it did now blow the problem is something to do with the part of the circuit you disconnected.
How to go farther and find the problem exactly is not covered in this answer. You have to take it from here. JAG

Son tried to hook up stereo in his 98 Deville..Now trunk release, fuel door release, high beams, power windows and a few other things don't work. Checked fuses are good..

That's because he likely cut the power wire to these when he was looking for power sources for his stereo.
GM almost always has at least one empty spot on the fuse panel that will provide a power source for aftermarket equipment such as stereos. He'll have to put an in-line fuse in it. It should be marked ACC. If not a test light will easily show him where he can draw power from the fuse box. Hope this helps.

Power trunk not opening trunk

Check the release solenoid for power, open the trunk and have someone press the remote release button, does it make a kind of clunk noise at the latch area? If not check the fuses and the power to the release solenoid in the trunk.
