Neutral light blinks
Hi,
Mitsubishi's electronic transmission has a built-in diagnostic....which is indicated via the 'N' (Neutral) light on the instrument cluster.
When the diagnostic computer detects 2 or more of the same fault (which does not rectify itself), then the transmission goes into "LIMP MODE' - this is to protect the transmission from further damage, but will allow you to drive in 3rd gear.
First, we need to ascertain what "sequence" the 'N' light is flashing:
If the N light flashes ONCE per second, then there is an abnormality with one of the transmission components, and will require accessing the computer for further trouble codes.
If the N light flashes TWICE per second, then the transmission fluid is overheating also - pull over, let engine idle in N for a few minutes to allow it to cool down.
Turning key off will only reset the computer momentarily, until and the transmission goes back into LIMP MODE again, so further diagnostic investigation will be required.
If you are technically inclined, i'm happy to explain how you can access the computer codes, without a code reader.
Let me know...
Cheers,
Loss of power when appling pressure to throttle, surging happens
There are a few thing that can cause this type of problem, A weak fuel pump is the most common, not enough fuel pressure . the pump puts out just enough to start and idle but when gas is applied it sputters and pops and stalls out. I would start with having the fuel pressure tested, a fuel pressure gauge will be needed to perform this test. you may be able to rent one from auto parts store, you will connect at the injector rail, there will be a valve , like the tire air valve. screw end of gauge to valve and start engine and see what the pressure is. the pressure needs to be at 38 psi, or test pressure without starting just turning key on and then pressure needs to be 47- 50 psi.If the pressure is lower than the specs then pump is bad..the other problems could be a bad tps sensor or mass air flow sensor, but from the way you listed what the problem is doing i would have to say start with the fuel pump testing first,
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE ICON ON THE CENTRE DISPLAY
Hi,
This is actually a picture of a tire (tread on the bottom) with exclamation mark
This means your tire pressure monitor (TPMS) has detected a LOW TIRE inflation condition in one of your tires.
Check your tire pressures without delay - warning light will go out after your have inflated your tire.
What's a heater core
Heater core is like a radiator. Blower motor blows through the heater core and heats your car up.
