I have p1747 code will that lite up the red light top right corner of my dash on a 2000 crown viv police intercepter

2001 crown vic, code # po1401. this code has to do with the egr system, the first thing is to check the dpf sensor, this sensor tells computer that the egr valve is working, there are two hoses the run off sensor and go into exhaust lines, check the hoses ,make sure they are on and not split, if hoses are good then start by replacing that sensor. here is a pic of it.and also the hoses

MOST INTERCEPTER CARS, MEAN THEY HAVE AN ADDED GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION! WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IS GOING TO A TRANSMISSION WITHOUT THAT EXTRA GEAR! TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: YES YOU CAN REPLACE IT WITH A REGULAR TRANSMISSION! YOU JUST WON'T BE ABLE TO CHASE BURGLARS! HAHA

The engine computer may not be compatible with this engine. It may require the PCM from a police intercepter vehicle. Do you have the calibration code from the vehicle the engine came out of?

Most of the sensors and actuators are the same for police and regualr car for the same model year. You probably need a wirng diagram book for a 1992 and a 1997 so you can compare.

It is highly unlikely that the sensor is bad. What the most common cause of DPFE codes is a blocked EGR passage in the intake manifold. The car is 15 years old and over that time has accumulated carbon build-up in the passage. The passage is located in the intake manifold beneath the air-intake casting.
