Take it to a mechanic or buy a gizmo you plug into the message control wire by your lower steering wheel and you have to reset the computer. I am not sure the name of the out fit you use but it costs about sixty dollars from an auto store. My mechanic did it for me for forty dollars.

I also had an ABS light that kept coming on and my mechanic traced it to one of the plug ins that goes to the sensor. There are a number of things. The plug in was corroded and he replaced the ones on the rear brakes and now they work. But in saying that your brakes as long as they are in good shape will work perfect without the ABS part working. All the ABS does is evens out your wheels when you are on slippery serfaces.

2006 malibu ss traction light on and tranny shifting hard reset computer shifts fine

The error could be in transmission abs airbags or engine among others. As many modules these days is staggering. Suggest take it to dealer. Not many mechanic shops have the ability to check codes or repair suspension , airbag or other manufacturer specific design ed systems. And you will get much more knowledgeable mechanic. Could be as simple as wheel bearing loose, most prelevent cause, but without codes from computer making lights come on, were dead in water. Transmission in limp home mode makes me lead to guess, ya just a guess, to say you are missing a speed sensor. Signal. Now car will still start without crank sensor, tourque converter input speed sensor, trans output speed or any of the four abs wheel speed. Like I said loose wheel bearing causes mag pick up wheel speed sensor to miss counts, ad has predetermined amount of pulsed electrical signals it produces, when one not equal to others then pops code. Good luck write what code is found and where. Thx

Abs and tcs light on 2000 chevy montecarlo

The abs light comes on when a fault is detected with abs system. Your best bet is to have the abs system scanned for trouble codes. Typically loose wheel bearings, or broken abs sensor harness wires are the two most common causes for the abs light to come on.
