2008 1500 Suburban LT and the electronic rear lift gate will no longer open with fob, inisde control button or manually. I have to go to the door, press the button and then pull the door slightly open. Wait for the motor or whatever to cycle so that it releases the door and then I am able to open the door manually. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the lift gate module. I looked it up online and there are two parts for 2008 one made in the USA and one from Mexico ? Does this matter and can someone like myself with limited skills replace this part if it is in fact the problem. The dealer wanted $800 to do.

Look at the vin. If it starts with a 1 it is US made. If it is 3, it is made in Mexico. I would check the fuses, etc first, but it sounds like the liftgate motor - ACDELCO Part # 25889602

What is wrong with my 2015 Suburban tailgate? The fob and front lift button only lift the gate 1/4 and then it shuts.

Liftgate control moduel uses sensor inputs to control the it , maybe one of these sensors is bad . Having a qualified repair shop hook up a professional type scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the lift gate control module would be the first place to start

When the gate was used manually the inside button was deactivated. Look in owners manual or contact dealer to see how to activate switch.

2008 suburban Stuck Lift Gate Lock

I have a 2008 Suburban with the power liftgate disabled. I have had the power latch stop working, and the BCM report that the rear access open when it is closed (both gate and glass). Somehow the liftgate module thinks the gate is open, so I cannot open the gate at all, and the latch and rear wiper will not work. To reset the control module I pulled the liftgate fuse (#20) in the instrument panel fuse box, turned the car on, off, reinstalled fuse, turned car on, unlocked doors using drivers side switch, and the power latch will function again - at least for a while.

Power door locks won't unlock + tailgate won't open

your issue involves the master control switch panel on the drivers side and or the passenger side as well some how the contact inside the switch assembly has either shorted out or no longer makes contact for the unlock side of the circuit. replace the drivers side panel switchs it's either a series of switc hs or mostimes one sigle board of switchs. you are better off going to an auto parts store rather than a GM dealership this will save you quite a bit on cash on the parts. now as to the rear tailgate. if it is electronic controled and there is an issue with the master switch you can,t manually unlock it because of a safty issue built in the system. you can manually unlock the passenger compartment doors for thew same reasons of safety but doesn't apply to the tailgate. just replace the parts and this will take care of the problem
