2001 mitz Gallant ES 2.4 litter. Makes clicking noise raido works but no exterior head lites engin light has not came on . battery is three years of a four year life.
It happens because too low voltage, ecu is not working properly if the voltage is running too low, just load little bit your battery(about 1 hour) and then your car should start, same happened to me

May be ab bad starter solenoid, or corroded/loose connection at starter, or (ground). Could also be a bad ignition switch. Start from the load; the starter. Test for 12V at starter, OK. Connect short wire from starter and touch sylenoid connection..
Need to check the condition of the battery. Use a volt meter and check the voltage before trying to start the motor. Have someone to try to start the motor while you check the voltage on battery at the same time. If the voltage dropps to either a 10 or less, replace the battery. If the battery is 4 years old or older then replace it. Hope this will help you.
Check all of your fuses then make sure that you are getting 12 volts from the battery. If starter is making a grinding noise, it sounds as if it is not getting enough voltage. If it is and makes a whirring noise, it may be the starter itself. Hope this helps.
First, remove the battery terminals and clean them. Check that the ground wire on the block is tight and clean and the wire at the starter is also good. If you have 12v at the main starter cable and12v at the smaller (trigger) wire next to it with the key turned to the "start" position, it's likely the starter is bad (providing you can turn the engine by hand with key switch off) Make sure that the battery has 12v before starting diagnosis...radio etc. draw far less than the starter does. Even if relatively new, if the charging system isn't working, it will draw down the battery in less than an hour while driving..
Check tightness of the clamps on battery & make sure the earth cable is tight from battery to engine, also check tightness of nut holding the cable 2 starter motor if all ok there its most probably the solenoid on top of starter motor replace this with new all will b ok.
