What kind of battery is best for bmw 1988 535i

get a battery at walmart,in less than 2 years,take it back and exchange for a new one,do that every 2 years you will never spend another cent on a battery

Replace the battery. (And possibly the Alternator). Reset any codes and try again. A week battery will cause al kinds of havoc and will result in just what you describe. BMW's are very sensitive to correct voltage.

What kind of BMW?

The best way to know for certain what kind of oil to use in your BMW is to check the driver's manual that came with the car.

Most likely the alternator is shot and not able to charge your battery. But the battery could be shot itself. Usually the battery light comes on for the alternator. Kind of sounds backwards but it really saying "charging issue".

Change the batteries. The remote can be opened via screw or will have to be pried open with a screwdriver. Inside you will see the kind of batteries needed, which will most likely be available at Radioshack or similar stores.

I suggest AGM 90Ah battery and make sure to do it in BMW service center only to register the new battery into DME otherwice your car will in trouble.

To be completely honest, I know so few about the 2005 BMW's, but the battery location should be simple.

Typically they are located under the hood, usually by one one ofthe hood hinges. However, BMW has been know to put some of them in thetrunk (E46 325i). I have also seen some of them below the rear seat as well (Serie 3). Thebattery may have a cover over it, so it may be a little harder to see.

Connect your old battery with another battery from another car (WHILE KEEPING ALL CABLES CONNECTED ON BOTH CARS) just user a bridge cable otherwise you'll need. a code to reactivate your BMW again. Try now to start your BMW engine. Now go to the nearest battery dealer to change the battery WHILE KEEPING YOUR ENGINE ON, otherwise you'll need a code to activate your BMW again :)
