Recurrent problem with sideview mirrors not adjusting. They fold in and out but mirrors point down and can't be adjusted from control inside. Have had reprogrammed numerous times (costly) but problem recurs. Have had modules replaced (costlier) but problem recurs. Have had seat heater module replaced and bypassed (costly) but problem recurs. Cadillac tech support is dumbfounded. What do I need to reprogram on my own as I would rather do that from time to time than to turn it in to Cadillac every time this recurrs? Any thoughts on other solutions??
Y ou need to take the inside control system on the door apart .
Clean it with contact cleaner .
The problem is the window is open sometimes and water gets in it corriods the contects.
You could also try spraying electrical contact cleaner on the control buttons may work for a while but the contects need to be cleaned

Try either an open end wrench or 1/4" drive socket, possibly 10 mm or 12 mm ( metric ) . Forget using needlenose pliers. Hope this helps

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

If you're lucky, on the inside of the door, will be a triangular panel
right behind the mirror that you can pop off. If you're not as lucky
and it's one piece or the panel is blocked by the door panel, you'll
need to remove the door panel to change it.
On the inside trim,
you can remove screws (these screws may be covered by filler pieces or
may be visible, or they may require you pry a plastic piece off that
covers the screws) that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel
and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and
disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can remove the bolts
holding the mirror onto the door

hi, what you need to do is pull the plastic casing off on the inside of the car at the back of the mirror you may need to lever this off with long screwdriver it will just pull of giving you access to the bolts holding the mirror to the door.
Just remove the plastic casing inside the car and this will then enable you to get the mirror off.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

manual locks and windows or electric? if manual, the first thing you need to do is remove the window crank, can be done with window up or down, if you position the handle straight up and push the door panel back you will see a small silver catch pin ( "U" shaped) clipping the handle to the mechanism in the door itself, you can pry it off with a screwdriver but be careful not to bend it. Next look in the arm rest on the door, there should be a removable piece inside, pry that up and remove the screws, next look behind the door handle where the lock is, there is a plastic screw that needs to be undone. remove the cover that the screw holds and put it aside. finally the only thing holding the panel on the door are the plastic clips that you cant see. with a screwdriver start at the bottom and pull the panel loose , you may break a few clips but they can be bought at an auto parts store very inexpensively. once the panel is off, there are 3 nuts that hold the mirror on, remove those and put the new one in. Reverse the process and make sure you push down on all the clips. Hope that helps.
