It might be the float but if you don't have any trouble getting the truck up to speed then it's likely fine. The trouble is more likely to be in the idle circuit. The curb idle should be 500 to 750 RPM depending on if it's standard or automatic ( higher for auto). If that's okay then you may have to play with the idle screws. Turn them both the same amount, 1/4 turn at a time. Turn them once and then rev the engine 2 or 3 times and let it idle down suddenly. You will have to re-adjust the curb idle to keep it at the right spot as well.
If the truck is an automatic, once you have it set up so it runs right then put it in gear and try again although that will probably only need the curb idle adjusted if it stalls. hope this helps.

There is a throtle adjuster right behind the carb. You can adjust it with a screw driver. If you are not sure where it is, just have someone press to gas pedal and you will see it move. RPM's at idle should be around 1,000 when it is idle once it has warmed up. Once that car warms up the choke moves back in and the car is probably stalling because it is not running enough RPM's.

sounds like you may have a problem with your Idle air control valve, located on the throttle body. this is what controls the idle when coming to a stop or stopped and turning corners or basically when your foot is not on the gas pedal

near the throttle body there is an adjusting screw(flat head) for air fuel mixture, it's on a deep cavity sometimes with a cover, adjust counterclockwise will increase the idle.

Hi I am Vortash sounds like an inlet manifold air leak or check the ignition leads they could be sparking out to earth , or possibly the choke is stuck on or filter needs changing restricting air flow .. Hope this is of help regards Vortash

it sounds like a low idle either caused by poor adjustment or a dirty throttle body. clean the carbon out of the throttle body. if that does not work bring the revs up with the idle screw

find the Idle air control valve on the side of the intake and then take off and clean or replace you could try taking a small ball peen hammer and tapping it lightly while it is idling let will genarly free them up
