Check all electric connections going to transmission as (od) is electrically activated. check the conections and entire wire path for damage. OD can be disengaged by slowing speed or slight tap of brake pedal so check disengage switch and wires on brake pedal. I hope this is helpful, please rate me

SOURCE: I need to replace the fuel filter on my 2003 GMC

ITS A SPIN ON FILTER, YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT THE WATER SENSOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FILTER, THEN USING A STRAP FILTER WRENCH LOOSEN THE FILTER AND SPIN IT OFF.

CHECK THE FILTER HOUSING TO BE SURE THE INNER FILTER SEAL ISN'T ON THE HOUSING AND CAME OFF WITH THE FILTER.

REMOVE THE WATER LEVEL SENSOR AND DISCARD THE SEAL.

INSTALL THE WATER LEVEL SENSOR ON THE NEW FILTER. USING A LITTLE GREASE ON THE INNER FILTER SEAL AND ON THE OUTER O-RING TO HOLD IT IN PLACE, SPIN ON THE NEW FILTER.

OPEN THE VENT ON THE UPPER SIDE OF THE FILTER HOUSING. PUSH DOWN ON THE HAND PUMP QUICKLY UNTIL THE FUEL IS COMING OUT OF THE VENT. CLOSE THE VENT AND PUMP THE FILTER PUMP UNTIL IT FEELS SOLID. AT THIS POINT START THE ENGINE. IF IT STALLS PUMP IT UP AGAIN AND RESTART THE ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE AN ASSISTANT THEY CAN PUMP THE FILTER PUMP WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND QUIT WHEN YOU FEEL THE ENGINE IS NOT GOING TO STALL. ABOUT 10 TO 15 SECONDS USUALLY WORKS.

CHECK FOR LEAKS.

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE USE BRAKE WASH TO REMOVE THE FUEL SPILLED DURING THE FILTER REPLACEMENT. ALLOW IT TO DRY BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE.

RATE ME PLEASE.

SOURCE: What is the proper technique for replacing

disconnecting the batteries will not mess up the computer the only thing it will do is erase the kam which the computer will relearn within three times of driving, if you are worried about erasing the kam most diesels have more than one battery and they are usually connected so you can replace only one at a time and have no worries if the vehicle only has one battery they do sell power savers that you can plug into your cigarette liter and keep the computer "alive"

Testimonial: "thank you so very much. By the way, where do you purchase this "power saver" for the cig lighter?"

GMC 2500 Diesel, reduced engine power??

Just my 2 bits, go through a spring cleaning checklist. Plugs could be fouled up, fuel could be contaminated, you already did the filters. Do you have it chipped or programed? Change the exhaust lately? Do you have the code number? Autozone will scan it for you for free, tell you the code number. Again, just my 2 bits.

Ran out of diesel now vehicle won't start

This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.

Getting poor mileage on my 1996 dodge 2500 diesel pickup. was getting 22mpg know 16 mpg

If you havent changed the plugs or coils, that could be a source of your problem. Also, maybe change your fuel filter and air filter. If you have the test, check your fuel pressure in the engine. Your fuel pump may be weak and need replaced. Best to you.

My chev 2500 deasal keeps stalling

how recently have you changed the fuel filters?have other people used the truck?have you tried a commercial diesel fuel additive(power service) to help eliminate the algae that can grow if unchecked, with a diesel it usually amounts to a fuel or air issue so start by checking these areas, don't forget the air filter needs changed at regular intervals and fuel filters are the last line of defense on a diesel vehicles and water and algae are the enemy.
hope this helps.

2007 gmc sierra 2500 IAT sensor

Well, the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor is located on the air intake duct between the filter and the throttle body (Assuming you have the 6L motor). The wires are easily visible at the plug that connects the sensor to the wiring harness. That's the easiest place to access them.
