SOURCE: Wait 15 minutes to start.

Impalas and some other Chevy products have a system called passlock or passlock II At times they will "sense" an intrusion even if there isn't one (even if you are using your keys). At that point the system locks down the fuel injectors and the car won't start even though everything else seems to work. You can do the same **** that you are talking about, turn the key in the ignition and leave in the ON position 10-15 minutes but who wants to do that all the time, and this always seems to happen at the worst time. If you take it to a dealer they are in most cases prohibited from making changes to factory installed protection systems....SO.....what I did on my Impala was...to disable that portion of it. This will take an hour or two. The dash is held in place with a variety of screws and bolts and you may want to do a web search to determine the placement of them. I just took my time and found mine until I had the dash removed. Under the steering column there is a metal plate that also needs to be removed, held in place with a few bolts. Once that is removed you will see coming up the steering column (3) wires grouped together. They may be tied together or taped together but there should be three. One is gray, one is yellow and I beleive the other is white. The yellow one is the only one you need to concern yourself with for this problem. Make sure that you have electrical tape or something to seal the ends off with (have it with you ahead of time, also wire cutting snips or something similar. This is VERY important. Once you have located this group of wires, START THE CAR, and snip the yellow wire while the car is running. Make sure and do not touch the ends to anything metal and try to seal them off with electrical tape as soon as possible. After that put everything back in place and you are good to go. The Security light will stay illuminated but it is not a problem. You can take the bulb out but it is very complicated and not worth the trouble. When I say security light it is the light to the right side of your control panel and it is either orange or yellow and says SECURITY> the alarm and everything else will function just fine. I did this to my Impala 10 months ago and have never had the not starting problem ever again. For more info on the grouping of wires going up the steering column you can go to a website called BulldogSecurity.com and they have more detailed info...Hope this helps you....!

SOURCE: My chevy blazer doesn't start , i have ignition

after the 15 sec. the gas smell means it could be flooding. when you say you have ignition you mean spark? your fuel pump can still come on and you can hear it, but that doesnt mean its not bad.

SOURCE: 2002 impala intermitenly wont start

I would clean the battery connecters or possibly change them. How old is the battery? sometimes when battery get old, they have enough juice to crank the motor but not enough to start it..But then again, if it doesn't crank at all sometimes, it could certainly be a bad or loose battery terminals..Start with this since its the simplest and easiest and could very well be your problem. hope this helps

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix pk3 relearn procedure does the starter to disable due to theft system to turn to turn off before going to step 2off before going to the second 15 minutes with Ken secL

Your doing it wrong !
30-Minute Relearn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
?€¢
The passkey III (PK3) keys

?€¢
The BCM

?€¢
The PCM, see important above

Important: This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with option code (Z49).
If replacing a BCM with an GM SPO Replacement Part, perform the procedure to setup a new BCM prior to the 30-minute relearn procedure.

  1. With a master passkey III key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT message on the drivers information center (DIC), after approximately 10 minutes the STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT message on the DIC will turn off.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
  5. Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
  6. With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.

When electrical component such as a crank position sensor or even a cam position sensor warms up it develop high resistance. That why if you let is sit that component cools off and resistance becomes low.You have a ignition control problem this stem from ICM (If equipt) to cranksensor to camsensor,

No start after removing ignition switch and lock cylinder.

These vehicles have a built in antitheft system. When switching the ignition you interrupt this system. You will need to do a system relearn after the new ignition is installed. It will not start until the new ignition is installed and relearned. Step one. Put key in ignition, turn forward 2 clicks until right before it should start. Keep like that for ten minutes, NO LESS. Step two. After the ten minutes, turn key back to off position for 5 seconds. You need to do steps 1 & 2 a total of three times in a row without trying to start the car in between. The whole process should take roughly 30 minutes. After the last time waiting 5 seconds in off position, turn key forward and attempt to start the vehicle. Remember no less than ten minutes when forward, maybe do ten minutes and 15 seconds to be sure, some people even do 11 minutes.

Programing ignition key for 2000 grand am security light comes on and the car will not start for 10 to 15 minutes.

Turn the key on and wait for the security light to stop blinking (may take about ten minutes). Then turn the key off and wait for at least one minute. Then try to start. That should program the key chip.

Key stuck in ignition

Be sure its all the way in park or try neutral. Its possible that security system does not recognize the key. Is security light flashing or on steady? Shut all doors and windows, trunk, hood, turn off all accessory's,roll down drivers window, turn key off and remove for at least 1 minute, insert key into ignition, try to start leaving key to run position for 20 minutes, turn key to off, wait 15 seconds, try to start again leaving key to run, wait 20 minutes, turn key off, wait 15 seconds, try to start, again leaving key to run, wait 20 minutes, turn key off, wait 15 seconds, try to start. This should relearn key code. It may relearn after 1 learn cycle and start if system is ok. Hope this helps and that the weather is dry and warm for this procedure! This is not always a fix, but works most of the time.
