Is this a 4x4? If so, vacuum switch on top of the transfer case and any HVAC parts that are damaged. That might be the part they replaced for you. Is there a hiss coming from the dash controls? If so, you will need to replace the mode switch with one from a junkyard. Otherwise you have to buy the whole control unit. I think it's about $65 bucks from Amazon. Probably $165 from the dealer. Here is some info on an older truck in the link. GMC Sonoma Chevy 10 Transfer Case Vacuum Switch

SOURCE: transmission

Yes it does matter. Remember your filter is a screen that the oil flows over. If it is clogged it will not allow clean oil past it and to some extent will be like you are low on oil or high if the oil can not flow.
Change the filter and look for metal deposits in both the fluid and the filter. Minute shavings like sand or smaller is normal as long as there is not a lot. If you see a lot or see big particles then gears have been ground and you are looking at trouble. Get fixed early. Otherwise if filter is clean and fluid is fine and tranny still does this they make additives for tranny's to help with slipping. I use tranny medic. Follow the directions as you will need to drain some of the fluid out. Also do not add to your tranny unless you have met or exceeded the mileage specs on the bottle of the tranny medic. Hope this helped.

SOURCE: oil change resulted in $2000 quote for extras

The dealer is changing the hole fuel sending unit where as NAPA is sell you the replacement part to the fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit has different components and can be replaced, GM Dealers will always replace the whole fuel sending unit and not service the fuel sending unit. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted,, be glad to help.

SOURCE: Trailblazer 2002, trans vent hose discharges some oil

This is not an issue, if the transmission was even a little bit over full, or got pretty warm pulling something it will blow a little out the vent. It's going to continue to drip until the excess oil is gone, but it won't hurt anything, other than staining your concrete.

Blew an oil line while driving. replaced it, added oil. car started right up prob is auto trans would not engage in any gear. no previous problem. does low oil press affect the trans??

Blew an oil cooler line or a transmission cooler line? Low transmission fluid would keep it from moving. Trying to drive it to long with transmission fluid about empty, would burn up the transmission. Oil pressure won't affect the transmission.

My '94 Escort lx keeps burning up the ATF. What's the cause likely to be?

Your transmission is failing. Your clutches are burnt. Your check engine light should be on by now. By now you should be experiencing rough gear shifts amongst other things.

The transmission won't shift out of 3rd and will only go up to 50 mph at around 3500 rpm.

check for a bad vacum to the modulator valve on your transmission,or a bad vacum to the modulator valve on the transmission. the modulator valve to the trans. works off of vacum from the engine, look for loose or disconnected vacum lines around the carb. or the air induction system. look for cracked vacum lines that seem to be sucking air when engine running at idle speed. in park. the modulator valve [usually] located on the drivers side,of the transmission,is the main cause of shifting failure. if the valve itself is bad, it will need replacement. thank you for choosing fixya.com!

There is a bad vibration at about 45 mph. I have been told it's the torque convertor, is this an expensive repair? Or, can this be treated with trans flush or filter hcange?

If it's the Torque converter that has gone bad, yes it's expensive to replace. But it would not hurt to use some transmission flush additives before you change the transmission filter and oil. it would also be a good time to replace the boost valve to bring up the transmission line pressure, the old boost valve after a few years weaken that causes the transmission line pressure to drop.

The 0.470'" or you can upgrade to 0.490"boost valve runs about $45.00 and takes an extra 5 min to replace while replacing the filter. Also it should be as simple as a bad TCC solenoid going bad or wiring.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

My 88 blazer won't shift out of first gear until its up to 35 to 40 mpg, its a 700 auto. Any suggestions

Check all your vacume lines for leeks. If there are no leeks then may have a bad modulater. There will be one vacume line that goes down your fire wall to your trans.Where the vacume line plugs in,this is your modulater and controls your shifting. The part runs anywhere from $10-15 for a new one and most just screw into the trans or have a fork retainer with a single bolt. This only applies on gas motors.Well good luck and hope this helps.,

My nissan sunny GA15DE was overhauled but started having rough idle immediately threafter. what could have caused this? Gerald

Gerald:Was the engine overhauled because of the smoking problem? If so, the auto trans solution is more likely your problem. Good Luck
  • Automatic transmission? - Check vacuum line to transmission . The only line of rubber going to trans. Located where it attaches ro trans and rwmove it watching to see if it contains any trans fluid. If hose has oil in itm Then replace the valve it was attached to. The valve is called a transmission modulator. The diaphragm is rupture and aloowing engine vacuum to **** and burn the fluid. your trans should be needing fluid too often. Modulator around 12.00 last known.
  • Manual transmission ? - PCVvalve not bafflrd against drawing oil from its location in valve cover.and or Pcv valve is defective. Cheap fix-replace
