Put a good.hypo oil in the gear box

  • Eric van Domselaar Jul 06, 2014

Wow this is difficult doing this from my Window phone. But Shell, Exxon, Valvoline and so on are good. Use a SAE 85 straight weight or any goodulti weight 75 W 120 or something close to it

hi,

open your hood. check if the power steering liquird reservoir is not full. if yes, trace the hose attached to the reservoir and check if there are leaks in the hose. if you cant find the leak, go to your nearest mechanic and inform him that you have a leaking power steering.

regarding your problem on gears, change your transmission oil and check if this resolves your problem. if not, find a reliable transmission mechanic to give you a details diagnostic of your problem. the common cause of this "gears issue" are transmission oil and synchronizer. only experienced transmission mechanics should replace this part.

Cant find oil pump

You have to remove the oil pan and remove the oil tube. The pump is under that and looks more like a couple of gears than a pump unit. The Haynes Repair manual on this model has a good picture and detailed rebuild instructions.

Why wont me 1992 Pontiac Bonneville kick in gear

not enough details... I'll do my best guess though:
does the shifter move and the transmission not "catch"? If so -- you have either a broken wire leading into the transmission solenoid, bad solenoid in the transmission,. no oil, low oil,. or otherwise if the linkage from the shifter broke or in need of adjustment..
Best regards

Clutch wont shift to other gears stuck n reverse

presumably its a manual box. Could be oil on the clutch plate. check if there is oil around the bottom of the housing or maybe dripping. if this is the case then you need a new clutch and a crankshaft oil seal. Help you more if I had more details.

Car is not giving good performance in 2nd gear

hamad, it would be better if u can provide the details of your car.

Generally, it any car doesnt perfom good in any particular gear, the engine must be oiled properly. It is very important. Dont try doing it yourself, but get it done by a trained mechanic at an authorised garage.
