I have a 1995 chevy silverado 1500 with the 305 auto. It will start and idles just fine. But if i turn the AC on, or put it in gear. or put any strain at all on the engine it will start to hesitate and die. When i try to drive it it wants to die, i can floor the pedal the truck will hesitate for awhile and slowly pick up RPMS, once its above 1800-2k RPM it runs like normal. Highway driving is normal runs great. Anytime I stop, I have to use 2 feet to keep it running by pumping the gas pedal otherwise it will just simply die. So far i have, changed spark plugs, wires, fuel filters. I have checked all vacuum lines (that i can think of). I have all the tools and have worked around cars for awhile but i cannot seem to get this thing fixed. I'm stumped.

If it has a carby ( you didn't bother to mention carby or EFI), have the carby overhauled as from your description, the accelerator and power sections of the carby are not working, Blocked jets or low float levels
if it is EFI have the fault codes read to check for MAF/VAF sensors and/ or heated oxygen sensor problems
your description indicates that the engine is not getting excess fuel to provide engine rpm acceleration be it either carby or electronic system

I have experienced this problem on similar vehicles. You should try and replace the coolant temp sensor. If it is not reading the correct temp to the ecm, it will not get the right fuel map. Also, the cts will not always throw a code.

Why will rpm rev fine on 1995 chevy Silverado 4x4 till its put in gear then it wont rev past 2100 rpm

it sounds like its is shifting strange it could be the torque converter or something inside the tranny making it shift sooner than wanted.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 (1996 and newer) or a OBD1 (1995 and older) fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
