So my wife took our new car (less than 400 miles on it) back to the Chevy dealer yesterday because the check engine light came on. they said that it was because she did not tighten the gas cap properly. They went out and checked her gas cap and sent her on her way and just said that if it came back to bring it back. Well it came back on again today so I put my scanner on it. It is showing P0324- Engine knock control malfunction. Any ideas since the dealership pretty much just blew her off?
The engine knock sensor(s) can send a trouble code for a several different reasons. Because the fuel system is pressurized a loose fuel cap can cause that code, so it's probably not fair to say they were just blowing you off. Even a test drive after they reset the code may not have been enough for the sensor to fire again. I would call back and ensure there are no recalls on your vehicle, make sure that you did not put low octane gas in a car that requires high octane. Ask the service tech about adding an octane booster and resetting the sensor again.
I had the same issue and have a 2013 chevy spark the mechanic said the sensor is not faulty its doing what its suppose to do. There is a knocking in the engine to save me money i have to get a oil change every 1,000 miles.

More then likely its the Canister Purge Solenoid. you can find it online at www.autozone.com the part number is PV140. And to replace it on blazer you have to remove the spare tire. Alot of people don't know where this part is so I hope this helps you and good luck.

It needs a code scanner hooked up to it,to tell you why the light is on and the cause. If there is an autozone near you take it there or
call different auto part stores to find out if they do that.Without getting the code, it's just guessing what the problem is.
SOURCE: on a 2006 chevy impala it tells you to tighten the gas cap
There is no sensor for a loose gas cap. What is happening is that the evaporative emission system is sensing a "Large Leak". Usually code p0455. The computer sees this as the most probable cause is a loose gas cap depending on several factors it looks at. You would need to clear the code(s) and see if that was the problem. If the light comes back on, then you have a problem in the system that will not let it seal. Possible solenoid problem, leaking hose / line, etc.
SOURCE: 2006 Malibu Maxx ss hard shifting/Check engine light
There is no dip stick. Its most likely not the fluid. These malibu's use the first generation GM LAN system. Check the data cord comming from the transmission near the mechanical shifting linkage. Alot of these shifting issues and errors are from a break in the wiring causing bad data to be sent/rvcd to/from the computer control module- these cars are electronically controled shifted, not mechanical.

there is a large evaporative leak. keep away form ottozoo, they dont have the brain power to actually diagnose a light bulb., their job is to sell parts., if they sell you the wrong parts tough.Take it to a qualified repair shop that does a lot of GM work or the dealer.
