Disconnect the motor connector, it's under the hood next to the firewall.

Emily, the steering column cover at the top of the steering wheel has to come off. You or someone has to unscrew the screws inside the column cover and unplug the electrical connector. This will help stop the motor under the hood from operating. If you have to; look at the fuse box either under the dash beside the steering wheel or under the hood. There should be a wiper blade fuse to pull out as well. Hope this helps. If you want to send me picture messages on these locations to better help you, please do so. My business phone is 434-907-2104.

2003 Chevy Impala wipers wont turn off and are stuck

Not turning off with the switch is usually caused by a faulty park switch in the wiper motor.

Wipers wont turn off

Your wiper switch may be broke. You have a fuse you can take out to get them to stop. The switch is stuck or perhaps the wiper motor is.

I have a 1997 caviliar when i turn the wiper switch off the wiper arms stop in the straight up position

If the wiper motor or arms have been replaced, someone didn't get them in the right spot, many times you can turn wipers off then remove wiper arms and reinstall them at desired stop point. Be sure and reinstall them with wiper switch in off position at desired level close to bottom of windshield.

Someone has installed a diode on wires at + side of coil to a ground on wiper motor any ideas why ?

this sounds like some was power the reset side of the wiper motor so when you turn off the switch the wipers go to their "rest" position. and so it wont feed back into the coil. sounds a little elaborate though. double check with a wiring diagram and test all of your accessories for function.

Wiper motor

usually it's the switch. Unless someone has rigged it up to come on manually. Possibly someone messing with the radio for power (direct) has run it to the wrong place in your fuse box. (backfeeding)
