Yes. When left in the convertible position the top seems to shrink a little. Have someone to push the top up button while you pull down on the top and try to latch one side. Passenger side usually works for me. After that you can latch the driver side. The less you leave the top in the boot the better.

Pull drivers rear door panel off
1. Remove door lock solenoid and plug it into another door to see if it works
2. If you can reach inside the door to the final mechanism that everything pushes on, push it yourself to see if it works
3. Also look on side of door for possible child saftey lock switch
SOURCE: I own a 1997 Camaro SS. Standard Transmission. I
look at the valve covers, the valve cover gaskets have most likely hardened over the years and are not sealing now
SOURCE: what cause this code
The code P1441 sets when the vacuum check switch detects a vacuum in the EVAP System when the purge solenoid is supposed to be closed.
Check for carbon contamination in the purge solenoid and vac sensor. The charcoal canister can fail and contaminate these components. Replace the canister or repeat failure will ensure.
Follow the purge hose until you find the canister, most likely Your 96 F body should be hiding in behind the left rear fender well. Remove the purge solenoid and lightly tap it onto a clean white towel. The carbon should show up and in most cases once the canister is replaced, the original solenoid can be reinstalled.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Okay I had the same problem and what ya do is take that little mechanism apart and there will be a plastic gear inside, if those teeth on that gear are sheered then that is your problem and you can pick that gear up at the nearst chevy house for about $5.00, I am just telling you this becous buying the hole thing will run between $350.00 and $400.00 bucks. if that isn't your problem though then it is a short somewhere or loose wire. Good Luck and hope this helps.
