SOURCE: IDLE PROBLEM

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: code p0121 TPS

THERE IS A TP SENSOR BUILT INTO THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. THESE TRUCKS HAVE BEEN KNOWN FOR A FEW PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA. THROTTLE ACTUATOR IS NOT SERVICEABLE. THE THROTTLE BODY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED IF IT IS PROVEN FAULTY. THE APP SENSORS ARE LOCATED IN THE GAS PEDAL MODULE. THESE SEND SIGNAL TO COMPUTER TO TELL IT WHERE YOUR FOOT IS, THEN COMPUTER SENDS COMMAND TO THROTTLE ACTUATOR TO OPEN OR CLOSE THROTTLE BASED ON THIS INPUT. THE SENSOR IN THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR DELIVERS A MESSAGE BACK TO THE COMPUTER TO TELL IT WHAT THE ACTUAL THROTTLE POSITION IS. IF THESE SIGNALS DONT MATCH(WHERE THROTTLE IS COMMANDED AND WHERE IT ACTUALLY IS)THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE COULD GO INTO A REDUCED POWER MODE. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!

I have a 2005 GMC envoy with the engine light with a down arrow I replaced the throttle body twice and I'm still having the same problem what might the problem be

Have you had the vehicle plugged into an OBD2 scanner to look for trouble codes? This will give more clues as to what this issue could be. If you have to pay for this ask at 4 or 5 places as prices can be VERY different.
Simply "throwing" parts at the problem is a Very expensive way to work. Comment below with the codes and I'll see if I can help you more.

Error P2138 on Honda Fr-v 2008 1.8i

FRV OR CRV?
FRV IS EUROPE CAR ONLY.
ENGINE REAL NAME: 1.8 L R18A1 I4
SAME ENGINE AS SOME CIVICS HERE, USA
AUTO OR MANUAL TRANS? NOT TOLD
WILD GUESS AUTO?
sm states

Trouble Code Conditions:
APP Sensor A/B (TP Sensor D/E) Incorrect Voltage Correlation
Possible Causes:
  • Intermittent failure. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the APP sensor and the PCM.
Trouble Code: P2138 (1.8L L4 VIN - Auto)
APP Sensor A/B (TP Sensor D/E) Incorrect Voltage Correlation Print this code data so you dont know what APP means.
wall that TBW tech jargon, Throttle by wire.
it is a THROTTLE error.!
that has 3 or 4 TPS sensors and a motor drive to TV
the error means 2 of the sensors do not agree, Correlation error is that.
so is bad TB or bad pedal pots
the service manual tells you the tests with a meter to prove which POT lies .
APP is gas pedal module just above right foot.
TPS TV sensors are inside the TB throttle body, and most times
whole thing is changed out. to fix it. TB
The TB is that things the Air cleaner connects to, on top of engine
it is a large chuck of aluminum .

called TB (classic name)
THROTTLE ACTUATOR and
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR
top center of engine , close to fire wall , facing engine.

photo below (civic) shows.
A does not agree with B
A = gas pedal pair of pots
B= TB
my wild guess is pedal module bad.
my guess APP pedal B is bad. and most cheap to buy. (?)

Can the problems associated with code P2127 on a 2010 Chevy Impala cause a/c not to kick on?

DTC P2127: Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 Circuit Low Voltage

This is right out of factory service repair manual , don't google stuff may not be accurate.
If you look under the steering wheel at the gas pedal you will see connectors at the Accelerator Pedal . position sensors inside gas pedal .

Circuit/System Description
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system uses two accelerator pedal position (APP) sensors to monitor the accelerator pedal position. The APP sensors 1 and 2 are located within the pedal assembly. Each sensor has a 5-volt reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit.
Two processors are also used to monitor the TAC system data. Both processors are located within the engine control module (ECM). Each signal circuit provides both processors with a signal voltage proportional to pedal movement. The processors share and monitor data to verify that the indicated APP calculation is correct.

It's not see wide open throttle like other guy says .

P2127
The ECM detects that APP sensor 2 voltage is less than 0.16 volt for greater than 0.5 second.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• DTCs P2120, P2122, P2123, P2125, P2127, P2128, and P2138 are Type A DTCs.
• The ECM commands the TAC system to operate in Reduced Engine Power mode.

Anytime the vehicle goes into reduced engine power mode A/C shuts off - cruise control won't work etc..

Just change the gas pedal assembly .

What does this mean when engine light with down arrow and loses power

I am only able to shoot you a guess on this and hopefully it steers you the right direction. I believe your vehicle went into limp mode. This can be from over heating to emission problems to a bad piston. The vehicle does this to protect itself. The cheapest way to diagnose this one is to take it in. Remember, having it diagnosed does not mean you cannot fix it yourself. Just pay the fee and take it home if it is something you want to tackle.

When is the code detected? An excessively low voltage from the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).

P0121 VOLKSWAGEN - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'A' Circuit Range/Performance
Possible causes- Faulty throttle position sensor
- Throttle position sensor harness is open or shorted
- Throttle position sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) When is the code detected?Malfunction is detected when an excessively low or high voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.

Have the VW dealer complete the diagnosis on this.

Check Engine Light & Dashboard Reads Reduced Engine Power

The reduced engine power happens because there is a problem with the electronic throttle control . Some people call it drive by wire ! The gas pedal has sensors inside , position sensors , connected electrical to the PCM - engine computer , the throttle body on the engine has a DC electric motor an also has position sensors . These are also connected to the PCM electrical . The PCM reads the position sensors which indicate how much your pressing on the gas pedal . then hopefully it opens the throttle the same amout .

The throttle actuator control (TAC) system delivers improved throttle response and greater reliability and eliminates the need for mechanical cable. The TAC system performs the following functions:
• Accelerator pedal position sensing
• Throttle positioning to meet driver and engine demands
• Throttle position sensing
• Internal diagnostics
• Cruise control functions
• Manage TAC electrical power consumption
The TAC system includes the following components:
• The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensors
• The throttle body assembly
• The engine control module (ECM)

Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the ECM detects a condition with the TAC system, the ECM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The ECM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The ECM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle position, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input
• Engine shutdown mode--The ECM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

GM Electronic Throttle Body Circuit Descriptions And Testing Tips

Tons of videos on youtube for these systems , there can be a variety problems , from wiring , worn out sensors , the DC motor , computer etc....
