Checking the timming on a 2002 Silverado

I have heard that it is a little more complex to check the timming on a 2002 Silverado 1500 then it is on an older model. Can anyone tell me the steps to checking the timming?

Yes, but I doubt you will want to spend the money on the software to do this. Timing is set in the computer, and automatically advances and retards based on feedback it receives from its sensors, such as turning on A/C, it will advance it, Engine Knock ( low octane fuel) it will ****** it. Nothing that the average user can do, except use a program like HP Programers, then you will need a laptop to set timing, which is great if you wish to run a high octane fuel as you can advance it a bit.

Egr valve o2

Hi, egr valves don't always clean properly if they where badly chocked up. It is possible it is still sticking. Can you run an actuator test with your diagnostics/code reader?. Also worth checking the wiring, plugs and vacuum lines around the valve as applicable to your vehicle, often just a good visual inspection will highlite the obvious. Jon

When do you service the transmission on a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8 v8

Most newer transmissions recommend checking the fluid at every oil change. With heavy driving (towing, hauling, mountains, etc.) it should be serviced at 60,000 miles. Regular driving with little towing and hauling, it can easily go 100,000 miles. You can also check the wear by looking at your transmission fluid. If it is very dark and smells "burnt" you should have it serviced and have a tech check for unusual wear and damage.
