Mini cooper 2008 windscreen wash jets

Hi
The filter for the screen wash bottle is usually situated on the washer bottle motor which if you follow the pipes from your washer jets it will lead you to it. There usually hidden behind the inner wheel arch liner

On each side of windscreen the air intake has a hose to drain water out, it is either blocked or broken.

Do you hear the pump working like it's trying to work? If so, then it is likely that your washer nozzles are clogged or the tubes to the washer nozzles are clogged. Try: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-clean-windscreen-washer-jets

I would suggest a good wind deflector like the Zefferus windscreen or something to get rid of the bogeys of wind noise and buffeting.

Try to reset the ECM and see if it works normal.

If you can hear the washer motor running when you operate it then the fault is most likely caused by a small filter for the washer pump inside the bottle that blocks up.
You will need to remove the washer bottle and clean out the filter.

Do you hear a buzzing noise?if noy then its your washer pump if you do then its your washer jets are clogged up with dirt a fine needle will unblock them

A common problem, down to wind chill. Even with engine hot and the water being warmed up in the screen wash bottle, the jets are wind chilled. At 0°C and your driving at say 30 mph in the snow, the effective temp is - 8°C on the jets.

Firstly use winter screen wash, or full stength stuff, it usually says on the bottle, and will not freeze till minus 10°C or better.

In the morning pour warm water on the jet, not boiling and keep it way from the windscreen. If you can get the insulation they use on micro bore gas pipe, you could try that to help keep those unprotected washer hoses lagged.
