1985 Camaro. Originally had a 2.8L V6, 5 speed, pulled and am replacing with a 350. Can anyone tell me of all the wiring in that thing, what needs to be kept and what can be chopped out that was strictly used for the computer? 350 is carbed. ive fould that most of the wiring is removable, but some of it goes to other stuff still used like back up lights. Please help! I want to get rid of as much as i can before i put the new engine into the engine compartment.

SOURCE: timing on a 350 chey engine

take out number 1 spark plug and put your finger as to block the hole ,have a friend bump the starter till you feel air rush out real fast / called the compression stroke when it does stop and look down the top center for timing marks on the pulley and line them up on the timing cover then place the distributor in place as so the rotor is pointing at the #1 piston location, basically the dr. front corner and start there, timing order is 1..8..4..3..6..5..7..2.. now if you get all these in right 1..3..5..7 are on the drivers side front to back and 2..4..6..8 on the passengers bank front to back and the distributor turns clockwise .good luck hope this helps you.

SOURCE: I need a vacuum line

thanks fasteddie383, i had already checked with the library (actually, i've checked three different LARGE libraries, no luck!) i've even had two different friend's that i went to school with check around @ the two GM dealership's where they work-one's the service manager, the other's the shop foreman-no luck! i thought about looking @ those sites that charge a fee for a year's worth of access, but they have no guarentee i can find what i'm looking for, and no refunds.
as for our "guest" on Jan.02........"i have a 86 2.5 liter , i dont know the vacuum routing and i with i knew where fuel pump prime wire terminates within the vehicle. "????? what the hell?......first you're talking about a 2.5 (4 cylinder) that's in (eithier) a S-series Blazer/Jimmy, or p/u............did you not see that it's for a Suburban with a 350. different truck and different engine equals different diagram, but thanks anyways.

SOURCE: small block chevy wiring

You should have a purple wire that goes to the starter, plus the red one from pos on battery. I believe you will have a red wire and a black w/red stripe or red/ w black stripe gong to the alternator.
As far as the distributor I think factory was a big pink wire. But you can also just run a wire from the fuse box that would only be hot with key in on position. If you need more help please ask.
Make sure you have your seat belt on and hang on to the steering wheel when you drop the hammer on that 383cu.
Good luck and enjoy.

SOURCE: 90 chevy 4/4 pu tbi 350 floods out

I'm having the same trouble with the flooding after warm start...if it's the temp sensor, would the temp gauge be working? It's in a 1991 Chevy van with an injected 350 carb.

I just bought a 1985 F350 with a 6.9 disel engine, it has a four speed Manuel transmission, how can I find out what the transmission is, and what kind of oil it takes

contact Ford, give them the VIN number and they can tell you which transmission was originally installed. if it has been replaced after factory, you will need to examine the trans for identification numbers.

Transmission stuck in 1st gear on a 87 camaro iroc-z

If the moudulator (vacuum controlled) is bad it will stay in low,Not sure what tranny, but if it has a vacuum line going to it ,start there,if you pull the vac. line off and fluid drips out ,it's bad.
If a 700r 4 speed ,Pull the cover for the governor (should have a wire clip over it,like a master cyl clip ,kinda) It's just pressed into the housing. A small amount of fluid will leak out. Just grab the governor by the end and pull it out ,The gear on the end is plactic,if it's "applecored" the governor can't work. I've replaced mine a few times.
Oh yea ,check the kickdown cable first, make sure ,if you pull on it ,you can feel the spring pressure aginst it as you get to the end.

1985 camaro 2.8 efi fuse box

As long as everything is working, don't worry about it. There will be blank fuse spots in your fuse panel. Those are for other options you may not have have, so there isn't any wiring to those spots.
