Hi,
Joe here to help,
Without going to a dealer, you need to get a scan tool to reset the srs light. Go to an Autozone store, They will scan it and reset it free of charge.
Autozone has the ability to scan and clear generic DTC codes on your OBD I, OBD II, or CAN bus connection (they will not reset an SRS or vehicle theft code). If your SRS light is illuminated, the safety restraint system is disabled and will have to be inspected, repaired, and reset by a qualified technician.Autozone has the ability to scan and clear generic DTC codes on your OBD I, OBD II, or CAN bus connection (they will not reset an SRS or vehicle theft code). Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. You are correct in that only the qualified technician with the correct tool can reset this light. Although, you could pull the dash panel out and remove the bulb from the backside that illuminates this actual error message and that would effectively turn off the light. Don't expect the bags to help you out on your next front end collision thoughFinally, someone who knows what they are talking about. SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System. If this warning light stays on in your Mercedes Benz, that means that there is a problem with the airbags or the components that are part of the SRS system
srs lights are the airbag light most common fault is a wire in the steering which atatches to air bag on steering wheel cannot remember what its called but i have just replaced mine for same problem
Independent shops can reset this, but they will need to have Autologic or equivalent equipment with the current software.Look for a shop that specializes in European makes. You will not be able to reset the SRS with a generic scanner.Cars with 10+ tears on them are prone to contact problems in the steering column. Make sure you are competent before undertaking airbag repairs. They can pack a nasty surprise.
Situation with seat is too vague.
as the seats have the sensors for the airbags,if you have not connected these up then the srs light will burn.if you have wired them up they will need to be reset at a dealer.
This can not be reset by conventional methods. This must be done through a scan tool. Usually only the dealer scan tool will communicate with the SRS module. If the SRS light is on you have other issues and they must be remedied before the light will go out. There is no way of knowing what the issue is without running codes with the scan tool.
It is my understanding that the SRS is a dealer only reset because it requires a code that is proprietory to MB dealers only. Now, a garage with a good scanner (loaded with applicable MB program) may be able to reset it for cheaper than a dealer. Nonetheless, I do not believe you can reset it on your own.
A side note, as long as the SRS light is on, your airbag and/or belt tensioners may not work if you're in a collision.
you need to have the airbag system checked...srs stands for supplemental restraint system....as long as that light is o the airbag may or may not work or may go off when it shouldnt
