They make a replacement mirror glass available that uses double sticky tape. This has worked great for me. The heated function still continued to work!! In my case I replaced a scratched mirror leaving the old mirror in place. If yours is broken included is a link for a procedure to replace a broken mirror.
Confirm the dimensions before purchasing. Some car manufactures have more than one design for different model cars same year..
to replace JUST the mirror glass, goto www.burcoinc.com On the left click on 'redi cut'. Under "redi cut" click on 'Installation'. At the right, I believe you mirror type is 'Snap Fit/ Drop Fit'.
This shows HOW to replace the mirror, to GET the mirror you will have to check with your local glass shop or dealership. (I don't think Burco will sell to you directly) Just make sure it is AUTO mirror, See FMVSS-111 on Burco's web site.
If you need to replace the entire mirror head assembly...it is held on with 3 bolts located under the door panel. HTH

You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.
You should be able to replace the glass, but I believe it is glued in place. You should be able to tell as you remove the old pieces. It is a special white glue.
I was able to get a great price for the whole mirror on ebay. even the ones with signals and heated.
i don't have aviator. here's explorer, should be the same.
You will see a small rectangle where the screwdriver goes in. You are pryingtowards glass. The retention is about a 3 inch rectangle that has a lip around it that snaps onto a rectangle on the mirror body.
