Error message "svc tire monitor"

Couple of days ago, my boyfriend left my lights on my 08 Chevy Cobalt and my car battery was dead the next morning. Had my car battery jumped and all was fine but I had to go to dealership and get my keyfobs reprogrammed.

Right after they were reprogrammed, I was getting a "svc tire monitor" message and my car was not giving me my tire pressure readings. All the other readings like oil change, miledge etc.. work fine.

Went back to dealership and mechanic told me he has no idea of why my car is doing that. Wants me to bring car back and keep it half the day, said he may have to order a new part.

Internet says to press and hold reset button on insturment cluster for 4 seconds to reset tire monitor. Makes sense to me, but where is the reset button on this car?

The owners manual will not give the following information but chapter 3 around pges 40 -49 will tell you how to get into tire monito learning section. 1. Take all four valvestem caps off. 2. Find a tool such as a small diameter philips screwdriver that will work to let air out of the valvestem. A common aluminum 1/8" rivet (round end into valve stem) works very well. 3. Add air so that the tire pressures are all 40+ psi (do not exceed the tire's max. inflation rating on the sidewall). 4. Turn key to on position. 5. Apply parking brake. 6. Press and hold lock/unlock down at the same time (for about 3 seconds) on the key fob until the horn honks and left front park light flashes. Without keyless or remtoe entry fob use the Driver Information buttons on the left of sterring wheel. Press and hold bothe DIC and reset button at the same time for abot 10 seconds this will bring up the personal menu use DIC button to get to Tire monitor menu press and hold reset button untill horn honks and left front light flahes then continue with step 7. 7. Start at the LF tire. 8. Let air out for 4 seconds - count it out (one one-thousand, two one-thousand, three one-thousand, four one-thousand). 9. Wait for about 15 seconds* for the honk (sometimes it'll honk right away). 10. Repeat 7 and 8 for the RF tire. 11. Repeat 7 and 8 for the RR tire. 12. Repeat 7 and 8 for the LR tire. 13. With all four now done, the system will give it's final multi-honk completion note. 14. Use a quality gauge to set your final pressures (a good gauge will exactly match the sensor readings). 15. Replace all four valvestem caps. *If you've waited fifteen seconds for the honk and nothing has happened. Don't panic - Simply repeat 8 and 9 again as there is a two minute window to do each tire sensor.

Open the hood by pulling the hood release latch located under the instrument panel on the driver's side of the car. Locate the secondary release latch on the front of the hood at the center, slightly towards the driver's side. Slide the latch to the left to release the hood and raise it Locate the headlight assembly and remove the bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Set the bolts aside in a safe place, so you won't misplace them.Remove the plastic fasteners from the headlight assembly molding. Carefully pull back the front fascia, or molding. You may need an extra pair of hands to perform this slightly awkward task.Grab the headlight assembly and pull it towards the radiator at a slight angle to remove it. This should provide easier access to the headlight bulb and wiring harness.Lift the plastic locking tab on the wiring harness to disconnect the bulb base. Then, disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb socket and remove the black retainer by turning it counterclockwise.Disconnect the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the old bulb from the socket by firmly, but gently pulling it straight out.Replace the old bulb with a new 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb. Put your headlight assembly back together by reversing the steps when you disassembled it. Use 89 inch-lb torque when retightening the headlight assembly bolts.

2008 Cobalt - Front speakers not working and no

2008 Cobalt - Front speakers not working and no audible turn signal. Both stopped working at the same time.

In my 2008 Cobalt, the front speaker in the driver door went inoperative - no turn signal noise, no warning chimes for door open with key in, seatbelt chime, low fuel chime, and of course, no music. All of those sounds come through the speaker. I switched the driver door speaker and the passenger door speaker, and now I have all of those noises back.

If you have manual roll down windows, you'll have to buy a special tool to remove a little clip that's behind the roller handle. This tool was included in a kit for about $7 that I bought at Harbor Frieght, but you might be able to find the kit at other auto parts stores. Google "removing window crank" and you should be able to locate a video that shows how to get it off.

Anyway, I switched the speakers and now we just don't have music coming out of the passenger door speaker, but at least we have all of the warning chimes and turn signal clicking noise again.

The dealer wanted almost $200 for a new speaker and to replace it (labor). Rediculous.

4. Press and hold the INFO and RESET button together for a few seconds
5. Scroll and get to the tire service monitor menu and press and hold the reset button for three seconds
6. Go to the Tire Learn menu and press and hold the reset button until you hear two beeps and it will say tire learn ON

Any dash light that comes on after the motor
is running or your moving, is a vehicle fault &
you check for codes,diagnose them,find a problem
& resolve it

We have been doing that for 35 years, nothing new there

Trac Control is embedded into the ABS Braking System

It needs to be fixed, so to speak, you have a problem
