My car idles anywhere from 1500-2000 rpm constantly moving up and down between there already checked for vaccum leak
SOURCE: truck idles at @1100rpm
is the check engine light on and if so what are the codes
on that model check to see if the map is getting vacuum if it is not getting vacuum the map sensor port at the throttle body is plugged very common
SOURCE: engine starts, reaches high rpm, then slowly returns
Vacuum leaks. Check all hoses and intake bolts. Leaking EGR or plugged PCV valve. Air filter plugged. Leaking head gasket. Worn timing chain. Camshaft lobes worn. Valves burned or leaking. Fuel idle control system or sensor. Good luck!
SOURCE: I have a 86 chevette 1.6 rough idle when put into gear.
It may have a vacuum leak, and /or a dirty carburator that may need to be overhauled.
SOURCE: I have a 99 chevy silverado. It started acting up,
check for any bad vacume lines or lose power cables. Are there any truble codes you can rent a code scaner at any autozone (you get all the money back when you return the scanner). If its a 4.3 you could have bad camshaft sensor. 4.8 and 5.3 you might have bad spark plug wires or cam sensors as well.Hope this helps. get the codes read and get back to me with more info and we will figure this out.
