depends on when you bought the battery, if battery is going bad it will come on, system checks to see if proper voltage is there, if not it will come on to tell you

well scion tells you up front to check with the manufacture before installing any devices so you might be out of luck on this one

sounds like your alternator is bad. How do you have to start it to be able to drive around the block?

2005 Scion XA Alternator Removal. Left front side of Engine, 2 12MM blots on the bracket, remove, one 14MM bolt below above the pulley. Get this loose and remove. It is a pain. Then pivot the alternator all the way forward. Screw the bolt in the RIGHT side so we can pull in the sleeve that is holding the BEAST. Using a Small Pry Bar, slowly and carefully put on Pressure forcing the Bolt to the RIGHT to pull in the Sleeve so the alternator will release. It took a few tries but I got it out. Getting the Bolt back in the slot seems to be the next challenge!!. Good Luck.

run the fault codes and look for a failed VSS sensor

first if they did check, it was after you had driven there allowing the alternator to put a charge back into the battery, you need to have the battery tested before you had it jumped, this would have told them that it is bad, most car battery only last for 3 years, even if you had a die hard from sears, another way to test it is to have a cell test they will put a load box on the battery and it will tell them what cell is going bad

MAKE SURE BATTERY VOLTAGE IS 12.5 VOLTS.IF NOT REPLACE BATTERY. IF YES MAKE SURE BATTERY CABLES TIGHT AND CLEAN.FREE FROM CORROSSION. CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALTERNATOR IS CHARGING BATTERY.WITH ENGINE RUNNING ALTERNATOR OUTPUT 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS.IF BATTERY ALTERNATOR GOOD.MAKE SURE FUEL PUMP RUNNING.TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO RUN POSITION A FEW SECONDS.YOU SHOULD HEAR FUEL PUMP RUNNING IN TANK.IF NOT CHECK FUSE AND RELAY.BOTH GOOD FUEL PUMP IS BAD.IF PUMP IS GOOD.PROBLEM IS IN IGNITION SYSTEM.CHECK FOR SPARK.NO SPARK.HAVE BAD MODULE.ALSO USE A DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER TO CHECK FOR FAULTY CKP SENSOR AND CMP SENSOR. THEY WILL CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.
