2005 Scion XA Alternator Removal. Left front side of Engine, 2 12MM blots on the bracket, remove, one 14MM bolt below above the pulley. Get this loose and remove. It is a pain. Then pivot the alternator all the way forward. Screw the bolt in the RIGHT side so we can pull in the sleeve that is holding the BEAST. Using a Small Pry Bar, slowly and carefully put on Pressure forcing the Bolt to the RIGHT to pull in the Sleeve so the alternator will release. It took a few tries but I got it out. Getting the Bolt back in the slot seems to be the next challenge!!. Good Luck.

Either bad gas, too full. Any CE lights? Try tightening the gas cap!

You may have a bad tensioner that is allowing the belt to twist. Check for proper alignment of belt and pulleys.

These days, fuel is filtered by the fuel pump before it leaves the tank. The short answer is that to access it, you will need to remove the fuel pump. The good news is that unlike most automobiles, you can access yours through the trunk floor without dropping the fuel tank. MY recommendation is that you stay away from cheap fuel stations. You know grocery store stations

under the bonnet on the radiator is an automatic fan, now if the radiator is low or you need to replace the coolant in it or top it up but the car may need a service and let them know the problem.

There is no maintenance to do on that auto transmission. All that is suggested is a drain and fill, or power flush, at 100-120k miles.

the automatic scion xa is only 4 speed .. My standard scion is 5-speed and its always begging for 5th gear after 65mph+

You need to open the air/filter box, not remove the hose.

• remove old mirror (pry out)
  
• unscrew from holder
• screw new mirror into holder
• press holder back into housing

entire housing

• open door
• pry off mirror shield (might need to unscrew) the shield is inside the door which hides the bolts holding the housing
• unscrew housing
  
• remove power cable (if any)
• plug in cable to new housing (if any)
• bolt the new housing in place
• replace shield.

Your intake air temperature sensor is part of the MAF (mass airflow sensor) and located right off the air filter housing in the large tube going to the throttle body.Its held on with 2 screws and has a 5 wire electrical plug going to it.

Recommended oil is 5W30. You can go one step better by using a synthetic 5W30 oil. It may a bit more expensive than conventional oil but it will extend the life of your car's engine (as long as oil changes are done on a regular basis). Cheers!
