On the diesel engine TD5 it is mounted in the engine compartment, you cannot miss it.
On the petrol engine V8 it is mounted on the fuel pump inside the fuel tank,

1. Release the pressure from the fuel system
2. Access to the filter is gained through the RH rear wheel arch.
3. Loosen fuel unions and remove hoses. Clean the ends of debris.
4. Fit new filter observing direction of flow arrows.
5. Tighten to 30nM
If your vehicle is a Discovery Series II, it is not equipped with a fuel filter. If it is a Discovery Series I it is in the right rear wheel well towards the front. Hope this helps out.
for Land Rover Discovery 1999-2004 no more external Fuel Filter serviceable anymore...it's a built-in part with the fuel pump. so if you want to change the filter then change the whole fuel PUMP.
I suggest that you visit the autozone.com website and register the vehicle. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual for the vehicle. Pretty handy. There should be information available on the fuel system and replacing the fuel filter there. Hope this helped and best wishes.
