I just bought a 2001 explorer sport 2dr, 131,000km and all of a sudden when i was slowing down at a light, it got alittle jerky, then stalled out completly. Also i have only driven about 50km and i've gone through 1/4 tank of gas?? This was bought right from a dealer!! Oh most important: WHEN IN PARK IDLEIN, WHEN I REV IT, IT WONT GO PAST 3000RPM BEFORE IT SURGES BETWEEN 2800 - 3000RPMS. Could there be water in gas tank or a wet distributor from the dealer washing the engine down??

I dont know why it stalled out but i do know if in park or neutural it has a limitor on it that will not let the rpms go to high and it feels like its missing but this is normal to keep the engine from reaving to high.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Have someone feather the gas pedal while you listen carefully to the engine. If the leak is bad enough you'll probable hear it.
More than likely, it's either a vacuum hose or the o-rings under the intake manifold.

Hope this helps!

My 93 ford explorer sport started to click then slow down and now it won't start up what could be the problem

sounds like the battery is dead. Try recharging the battery or try jump starting from another vehicle using jumper cables.

My 2001 Explorer Sport stalls in gear coming to and stopping at street lights or signs. It stalls only in gear when the AC or heat defroster is on. It doesn't stall when in park.

it could be the IAC ( Idle Air Control) solenoid, but I cant tell you how to easily test it. So I ASSUME the a/c works OK when driving? I would replace the IAC first, its a real common problem.

2001 ford explorer sport 4wd stalls when i take my foot off the gas

Your describing symptoms of a bad Idle Air Control (IAC) motor. It's mounted on the top of the motor near where the intake tube enters. Does this have the 4.0L V6?
