I have an intermittent grinding sound which sounds like its coming from the left side of the vehicle. it does not effect the way the vehicle handles but i can feel the vibrating under my feet (drivers side). My mechanic took apart the wheels ext thinking it might be the bearings and it bearings were ok. He then thought it was a rock stuck in the breaks but after that repair my car is still making the same noise. The sound seems to happen while the vehivle is going between 60-80km and stops when i slow down. any idea what this could be??
It's hard to say exactly what it is, but here is the best and fastest way to check it yourself. Safely jack the tire off the ground so you can freely spin it. An remember do all of this with the tire on. It will give you the leverage you will need and it simulates more real world conditions. But after you jack the tire and rim off the ground. Spin in backwards and forwards and see if you can hear any noises. Also grab the tire and see if there is any up and down or left and right slack or play in it. If there is. You may have a bad wheel bearing. The reason it wasn't detected was because it hard to properly diagnos a bearing if you don't have enough leverage to apply pressure to the bear. Where as leaving the tire and rim on you were able to creat the leverage and pressure to check for slack and wear in the wheel bearing. Hope this helps.

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.

Hello mpolci...The 2003 Tiburon was sold to the public with a defective clutch, it failed due to warpage and bad pressure plate... among other things. There are MANY class action lawsuits. Did you resurface or replace the flywheel when the clutch was replaced? Did you go with an aftermarket clutch kit, or factory? Also the slave cylinder on the 03 was known to have a defective valve.
You can try checking the levels and bleeding the system and if you still have problems, then it could
be a release bearing, a loose clutch pad, or a broken pressure plate spring....If the clutch is still under warranty, i would return it to the installer.

Wow, you have a few problems there. The grinding sounds like a driveline problem. Does the grinding get worse or louder as you increase speed? That grinding could be coming from a number of places. Everything from a universal joint on the driveshaft to the transfer case. Try shifting from 2WD to 4HI. Does the truck go into 4HI? If it does, shift to neutral, and put it back into 2WD. Sometimes the actuator for the 4WD can get stuck. If that doesnt work, can you try to pinpoint exactly where the noise is? I know that sounds hard, and I saw where you wrote you can feel it under your feet. Is it everywhere though? Can you feel it in the steering wheel, for example?
As for the brakes, are they always that hard to stop? Or is it after the grinding starts? Is either the brake or ABS lights on on the dash? Does the pedal feel mushy or very hard? A mushy pedal usually means a bad master cylinder, while a very hard pedal usually means a bad power brake booster. I'll be honest with you, none of what you described sounds cheap, regardless of where you take the truck to get looked at. They are most likely going to charge you for a few hours of diagnostic time just to figure out whats wrong. Thats why I asked if you could try to narrow down exactly where the noise is coming from. Theres a better than average chance your going to get ripped off, simply because it's not clear and obvious what the problem is. Do you know anyone who has any knowledge of cars?
