P2176 code my wife went to start the envoy this morning and it started but when she tried to back out the envoy was very sluggish and would hardly move. The engine light came on and she just left it there for the day. When I came home I noticed the gas cap was very loose . I tightened it and drove it around the block with no apparent trouble. I checked the error code and it said P2176. Is the gas cap the problem ?

NO , gas cap not the issue here . the P2176 refers to throttle actuator control system - idle position not learned .... the test for this is a mile long , i would try clearing the code , and see if it returns , or it will reset itself if it see's 3 drive cycles without a failure . cheers.

I've replace my gas pedal cleared my code and my idle is still erratic. The local dealer here said to drive it and it will clear it self up. But now I'm getting code p0221 abd p0504. Any ideas. This is ridiculous.

1998 k1500 sluggish at wot

You should have a check engine light on. You can have codes read at most parts store for free. Sluggishness at WOT usually results from carbon buildup in engine. Usually the result of NOT changing oil regular. But the scanner will give better insight. Possible causes are, but not limited to, carbon buildup, clogged egr valve, ignition timing. The scan will isolate cause. Bad distributor also possibility.

HI,
See if you can pull a code off the check engine light would help. Check fuel pressure at engine in case you have weak pressure will cause hard start/prolonged cranking. Other emissions related components can do this also, but if you get a code can narrow it down.....Mike

check/clean battery terminals, if ok check starter wires for voltage(while turning key to start) and tightening or corrosion. If all check out ok replace the starter. If you have no voltage at the starter check your relays and ignition switch. Hopefully this helps
