Check the distributor for loose connections inside, on the coil.

SOURCE: my 96 jeep grand cherokee keeps diying going down

How is the idle? It never dies when let it idle for 30 minutes? Is it only dies when trying to accelerate? If this is the case then There are 3 things to check: 1- O2 sensor. 2- Fuel delivery rate is meeting spec at at fuel distributor. The fuel pump may be week to deliver a correct fuel rate or the Fuel regulator is not doing its function to keep up the fuel pressure. 3- If number #2 is OK then there is a problem with the Fuel distributor. Good luck in finding the root cause

Starting problems

since the computer is only supposed to send fuel and spark signals in reaction to input info, unless a wire in the harness is either grounding or crossing into an output wire, i'd think it's safe to assume the computer is doing that internally. Another reason is that if it were a wiring problem, pretty likely it would not run well after you did get it started.
The only thing I'd do aside from replacing the computer is to unplug all the sensors one by one while it is acting up, to get an idea about wether the errant signal is coming from a sensor or internally.
Likely you can get another computer from a scrapyard.for lots less than a new one. Since this is a "guess" repair, you may want to try that.

Jeep cherokee cranks but no start

this is a fuel problem, fuel pump is bad, or fuel filter is clogged up. check to see if fuel pump is working. check fuses and relays if it does not work. to rule out a bad fuse or relay.

I have a 1997 JGC V6 lately I noticed that the gauges don't work when the key is in the run position and the jeep wont start. If it sits for a while then I turn the key the gauges come on and the jeep...

Are you the only driver for this vehicle?
Next time when you refill up,DO NOT TOP OFF THE GAS.
When the gas pump stop, just let it stop. DO NOT TRY to put more into the take.
When topping off,the fuel sensing float is push BEYOND it limit. It will create a short on the wiring to the gauage.
Please ran few tank WITHOUT TOPPING off and see does the flow return to normal and not creating a short.
The fuel pump and gas level sensor is in the same unit. It's costly to pull the gas tank down and replace it.

1994 Jeep Grand cherokee 5.2 no start

Check the crank angle sensor sensor near the transmission inspection plate.

CAS can intermittent and fail with no warning.

I turn down a job because the "other guy": used a tire iron pry open the inspect the flywheel!!!

After all said and done.......it was the crank angle sensor.

My 93' jeep grand cherokee cut off while driving and wont start.

If you can gear the fuel pump running It may be OK but if you spray carb cleaner into the throttle body and it briefly starts, change the fuel filter (on frame rail on left side near the tank). If it does not start with spray, check for spark. Most common problem is crank position sensor, but, do not change it without testing first. (fairly expensive and difficult to change). There are numerous other tests you can do listed in inexpensive manuals such as haynes. (if replacing filter gets it running do a fuel pressure test to make sure pump is still OK)

It won't start when it is cold but starts fine when warm. Will start eventually if you pump the heck out of it and crank it and repeat quite a few times. I have a 91 cherokee that won't start when it's...

Try cycleing ur key a few times before actually cranking it alot of the time wen a fuel pump is about to go it wont prime cycling the key will prime it. As for the fuel gauge thats part of the fuel pump its called a sending unit and in the jeeps its all in one unit. it sounds like your fuel pump is about to go tho. i had the same problem with my 93 jeep grand cherokee laredo. i replaced the fuel pump and it runs fine now u can get it from your local autozone for about 140. hope this helps let me know

'93 Grand Cherokee intermittently starts and runs

Hi, I had simmilar problem with my 1993 JGC . I ran out of gas and it would not start until the next day. Then it will start and run until I put the brakes on tho stop and then it will die. It starts right back up. Ended up being the voltage regulator in the ECC/ECM. It is at the mechanics shop right now waiting for the ECC to come in.I will post a follow up.

93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Could be a sensor.I'm thinking more along the lines of a fuel pump or fuel filter. If the fuel pump is going bad..similar symptoms.Would be advisable to install a pressure gauge at the engine, and check fuel pressure when it's acting up.
