It sounds like you had a jammed or stuck switch mechanism on your horn. When you disconnected the horn's power supply line you may have inadvertently jumped the hazard switching circuit. Try tracing the old supply line for the disconnected horn, and remove it completely from the vehicle to be certain it can no longer carry battery voltage.
start by checking fuses and horn relay, next check the ground on the horn it self, and if it still wont work you may have to change horn ,to check horn just put power to where horn power would go to it ,it should blow .
different cars different places. look on back of fuse cover it is either on inside fuse box, or under hood fuse box. if the fuse is ok! check the relay for the horn in under hood fuse box. if that is good.disconnect wire from horn, run a wire from battery positive to the horn it self, if it works now, it is the horn relay or button in car. Good-Day!
First off take the horn pad off the steering wheel be careful if has air bag ground your self with a wire so know static lift pad off disconnect the wire see if horn stops if so the horn pad might be collapsed and letting it make a ground this will set horn off
If your not going to fix the horn plate in the column. Wiring a horn button is easy. You need a hot lead from the fuse panel to the after market button and from the other side to the horn button under the hood unit (grill area). Most horn unit are self grounding.
you may have a problem with the clock spring or spiral cable as nissan calles it. it is a part of the air bag system and also horn signal runs into and out of it.if that part is bad, your air bag light will flash and your horn will not work. has anyone been doing any repairs inside of the steering wheel?? it may just be unpluged. if you are going to tackle this your self to look inside of the steering wheel, make sure you disconnect the battery for at least 3 minutes, befor you start playing with the air bag. you dont want to blow it up.
THE WHOLE HORN PAD AND AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE REPLACED.BECAUSE HORN PAD BUILT IN THE AIRBAG.IF YOU GOING TO REPLACE AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL YOUR SELF. DISARM AIRBAGS BY FIRST TURNING OFF RADIO,THEN REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE,WAIT 20 MINUTES FOR AIRBAGS DISCHARGE.BEFORE REMOVING THE AIRBAG HORN PAD.
The air horns will of course require constant air - so will only blow if there is a holding tank to keep air pressure to them. The unit it self will have a hot wire to the horn on your car - simply find the wire to the hot side of the horn and run it in with it or splice it - best of it - send an MP3 of that loud thing to my email [email protected]
