Unfortunately you are not able to program a 2012 Hyundai Elantra key fob remote without professional equipment. I would recommend calling a few local automotive locksmiths in your area as they are usually a bit more affordable than the dealer. There are many vehicles that you can self program a key fob to and Key Fob Programming Instructions can be found here:

Seperate key fobs only can be programmed in the following way.

Turn ignition on/off 8 x times (allow all functions to stabilise) after the 9th on - press a button on both remote fobs. then turn ign. off. use good remote to lock and then try new remote to unlock/lock. sometimes it works first time - sometimes you have to repeat actions. good luck.

Manual Programming Procedure (non scan tool)
1. Connect pin 1 of the 16-way data link connector to chassis ground or to pin 4 of the 16-way data link connector.
2. Close all doors, turn ignition key to off.
3. Turn ignition key to Accessory.
4. Turn ignition to off, door locks will cycle once (in programming mode).
5. For each key FOB, press any button 3 times in a row to program code. When programming is complete, the door locks will cycle once.

NOTE:
IF A SECOND KEY FOB REQUIRES PROGRAMMING, IT MUST BE PROGRAMMED WITHIN 1 MINUTE OF PROGRAMMING
THE FIRST FOB PROGRAMMING. PRESS ANY BUTTON ON THE SECOND FOB 3 TIMES TO PROGRAM ITS CODE. WHEN PROGRAMMING IS COMPLETE, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL CYCLE ONCE.

6. The programming mode finishes after the following:
a. Programming of two key FOBS is completed.
b. One minute has passed since programming.
c. Pin 1 of 16-way data link connector is removed from ground connection.
d. Ignition switch is turned on.
e. Any of the doors are opened.

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote. Try a locksmith before the dealership, they are usually 50% the cost.

My 2012 kia optima Fob died i replaced the battery but it still wont work unless i put it in the glovebox just to start the car the buttons on the fob doesnt work i only had the car for 2 months.
There is a possibility that your key fob might lost the programming. I suggest that you re-program your key fob, follow the next steps to re-program it.

Instructions
    • 1 Sit in the vehicle and close all the doors. Insert the key into the ignition.
    • 2 Turn the key to the "Off" position then to the "On" position. Repeat this until the door locks cycle to indicate that the programming mode is activated. End with the ignition key in the "On" position.
    • 3 Press the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on the programmable remote. Listen for the doors to lock or unlock to verify successful programming.
    • 4 Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Listen for the door locks to cycle to indicate that you have exited the programming mode.
    • 5 Repeat the above steps to add any additional remotes.

Sir my problem is that nissan sunny model 2012 i changed the remote same number batery after all remote is not working not open door and unlock door plz sir tell me nissan sunny remote fob ... i seen
in the owners manual there should be a description of what you have to do when you change the battery in the remote-fob, if it is a Nissan factory feature. If it is a dealer installed feature then you need the instruction set from the manufacturer of the remote-fob.
Usually to re-syncronize the fobs you need both of them together while sitting in the drivers seat and you go thru a sequence of turning the ignition on - off with each key. Find a on-line Nissan Forum -- you will get your answer there.

Try with brand new key fob battery and see.If that helps.
Otherwise May be keyfob needs to be reprogrammed.
