2000 ford explorer fan blower only works intermittently

The fan blower motor works most of the time, However there's times it doesn't work at all. fuse is ok. Right now it's not working at all . faint burning smell detected under hood. Relay? Blower motor? I'm Handy- could I change blower motor myself? Thank you

On ford vehicles the blower motor resistors are the most common problem when this happens.

I replaced the blower motor resistor on my 1999 Expedition about 3 months ago. Haven't driven it a lot, but now that we have snow and cold weather, the fan is back to only working on high. Was it just a bad resistor or is there a more sinister issue?

My 2000 ford explorer blower is only working in the back seat, how do i repair this

Could be the fan motor or it could be the dashboard switch. It could also be the fan impeller mounted on the motor. Search youtube for other people working on this problem and how to fix it.

Make sure the knob is actually turning the switch, these brake on Ford cars/trucks all the time. Check fuses, check blower motor relay,Check for power at blower motor, verify resistors are functioning properly, replace blower motor.

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT with the 302 V8. The blower does not work at all in the front dash, however the blower in the center armrest for the rear seat passengers, blows cold and normal. On

Hi, the problem could be the motor, controller, or resistor. You will have to troubleshoot using a volt/ohmmeter. If you have a meter and are willing to troubleshoot, I can send a procedure.

Heater fan not operating

Most of the time when a heater blower quits working it is the blower switch that fails rather than the motor. Blower switch can be accessed in the dash panel.

Heater blower not working

You call it the blower motor, I assume you mean the interior Heater/AC blower motor. When the motor acts as you have described it is usually a problem in the motor itself like a short or rectifier.

Fan works intermittently, fuses ok

Check and see if you have power to the blower motor regulator. It is located behind the glove box.

If this occurs in all positions, check fuse, check for power at the fan motor, if power in all positions replace motor. if no power at fan and fuse is good, check blower motor resistor and blower motor control switch. Replace as required
