2004 chevy impala won't shift out of 2nd. Its an automatic and seems to go from 1st to 2nd smoothly, but hesitates in 2nd gear like it's stuck in two different gears. The check engine light code said "solenoid stuck open." How bad of a fix is that to have repaired? We just replaced the speed sensor hoping that was the problem since the speedometer wasn't working, then the solenoid code came on. Any advice?

I had the fuel pump recently replaced i just assumed the fuel filter was replaced also cause my fuel pump is in the gas tank. My air filter is clean and I have 4 fuel injectors, no carburetor. A friend of mine who has looked at my car for me says it sounds like there is some kind of air leak but can't figure out where it is coming from?

sounds like you have a problem with your vehicle speed sensor this sensor is essential for the correct operation of many control units on your vehicle best get a diagnostic test on your vehicle to confirm this

Hope you find that this answers your question. Best of luck.

p.s. If you have the fluid changed, make sure it's done from the tranmission pan, not through the filler tube; siphoning through the filler tube can be hazardous to the transmission, especially cars with a lot of miles

i can answer part of your question. the front wheel speed sensors are for abs and trac control only. these will not affect the speedo your problem is some where else. sorry i have not had this prob yet good luck. you could have to replace the rear wheel speed sensor again. they are not that good. and after market are even worse.
SOURCE: had down shifting
1,change the oil - original vw is light brown ( NOT red )
-reprogram the throttle body
- adapting the kick down position
