Hi, i wanna ask bout my 2004 chevy aveo 1.5 hatchback. Check engine light appear and also the hold light blinking. Have changed the ignition coil, spark plug, spark plug wire, air filter, clean the body throttle but does not solve the problem. Plz help me someone.

    What are the fault codes showing on the scan test for these problems?

    Still in the chevy specialist centre, they are having problem in scanning my car :-(

    again what are the codes?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tel them to ck the cig lightr fuse if it will not communicate w/ the scan tool!!!!!!

    it could be the map sensor but make sure its not as simple as a bad or unhooked vac. line to that sensor i would look towards the vac. supply to the sensor its very easy to access good luck i bet it is not the sensor

    did they find a bad vac. line? you need it in my shop! id fix it fast and right the first time thats what i do and have for over 20 years its alot eaisier when i can see it

Your problem is a leak in the cpi pletium most likely the pressure line has a leak
had same problem with mine $45.00 PRESSURE LINE KIT AND $15.00 GASKET FOR PLETIUM and 2 hours labor problem sovled.
You can remove vortec cover and remove air regulator to look inside pletium. I had gas vapor on driver side . that is where fuel lines are. fuel regulator is on passenger side. turn key on and look in hole and see where fuel is spraying. taking pletium off you can again turn key on and make sure where fuel is coming from.

SOURCE: hold light blinking, check engine light on, engine slows down

check tps sensor (throttle position sensor in backside of the throttle cable) and map sensor (manifold absolute pressure on front little 1 inch sensor with vacuum line) make sure there plugged in. the ecm (engine control module driver side inner fender) and tcm (transmission control module under dash) both need the data to know when to upshift and increase fuel/air. Otherwise the computer runs default values and guesses off of other sensors giving poor performance. also disconnect battery for 15 min. usually resets aveo service lights if you dont have a scanner.

Why will our 2004 Chevy Aveo not shift into fourth gear or "overdrive"?

Connecting it to a scan tool will give you the answer in the form of codes, AKA DTC codes. The engine light is the clue, the scan tool tells the answers via the codes. All the codes are online.

I have changed the plugs and wires ignition coil and cleaned the fuel injectors on my chevy aveo 2006 and it still had misfire codes on cylinder 2 and 3. what could it be? My check engine light burned out...

I would doubt that 2 injectors have gone bad at or near the same time. Low compression very well could be the issue, but you stated the car runs fine. Did you reset the codes with a scan tool? If not try that and then see if the codes return. I would check the integrity of the coil to make sure it is strong enough and getting good spark to the plugs. #2 and#3 cylinders use the same coil just as #1 and#4 use the same coil.Good luck.

05 chevy aveo hold light randomly comes on while driving and the car jerks into a lower gear, this causes all of my guages to go out as well, but when I re-apply gas everything comes back and it drives...

My check engine light and hold light are blinking, and the car jerks alot when it's taking off.it also doesn't want to go to 4th gear ,just stays in 3rd gear even at 50mph. I've been reading online and ppl are saying it's the coil pack. I took it to O'Reilly and they say that the ignition coil 3 is bad. So I'm gonna buy the part and install it tonight or tomorrow

My 2009 chev aveo has a hold button. the hold light on the dash is flashing. the book says take it in to fix. what can it be?

I have a 2009 Chevy Aveo. The hold light has come on two times since I have owned the vehicle. The first time at about 37,000 (just out of warranty)the vehicle started running very poorly. the check engine light came on as well as the hold light blinking. At first I thought it was a transmission problem, It was NOT. The problem with this gem of a car is that the spark plugs need to be replaced by 35,000 miles. The check engine light was due to the ignition coil pack being bad (cylinder 3) All four need to be replaced at once. After replacing the coil pack and plugs the check engine light went out and the hold light went out. This was an extremely easy repair. I walked my 13 year old daughter through the repair.


The second time the hold light went on was about a week ago. I now have about 52,000 miles. The light came on for no apparent reason. The only unusual thing that happened was that i accidentally spun the tires in the rain just before the light came on. The owners manual will tell you to bring it in asap because there could be serious problems. I couldn't believe i was having another major problem (there was no check engine light on this time) My guess was that the spinning of the tires could have had something to do with causing the hold light to go on and blink. What i did was disconnect the battery over night in an attempt to reset the light. It worked, i have not seen the light come back on in over a week. I drive about 50 miles a day on the highway as well as stop and go traffic. Ill call that a win.


These lights come on for a reason, if the light comes back on i will be planning on taking it in to a transmission specialist. I am not trying to say you should ignore your lights but sometimes a little effort before taking it into your mechanic can save you a bunch of money. I just wanted to share what i did with you all. Also you can have your check engine codes read my many auto part stores usually at no charge.


I would never buy another Aveo or recommend one to anyone. In my opinion they are poorly manufactured vehicles. I guess i should have guessed that any vehicle with a 3 year 36k mile warranty has such a short warranty for a reason! I hope i could help someone with my experience.

The daytime running lites on my 2004 aveo work sometimes, and sometimes not.

CHECK DRL FUSE MAKE SURE ITS IN PLACE TIGHT.IF FUSE GOOD RELAY COULD BE GOING BAD.
