1994 GMC Sonoma Heater Problem

When we use the heater it sometimes smells like burning wires and smoke is present but I can't find where the problem is. If we turn the heater off it goes away. Wait a minute and start again there is nothing.

Sounds like either your motor or blower resistor is going bad.Gm blower motors tend to go bad from what i have seen.My chevy pickup is on its 3rd motor. There is also a hose that is connected to it that when the air blows it directs some to the motor to keep it cool. You can check that but it is probably your motor

94 gmc sanoma. heater dampers do not work properly. can hear a vacuum leak at rear of heater control switch. new switch at dealer is not available, junk yards no luck. the vacuum hose configuration is what...

From the feed line under the hood, have an
assistant(engine off) blow cigarette smoke into the line, you should be able to see exactly where the leak is.Often is is a hose, not the switch itself.

chech the wires going to the blower motor and to the speed control resistor that is in the air box near the blower those are the most common places to find melted wires and connectors

Smoke coming out of vent when defoster is on 99 chevy blazer

what does it smell like? antifreeze, burning wires, oil, no smell, here is my best guess, 1- heater core, 2- heater blower motor burning up, 3- engine oil, and 4- steam condensation, 5- a ghost.
