1989 chrysler lebaron 2.5 turbo

If it sound like a diesel when running,it's possibly the wrist pins/piston,i've done these before

Sound like a fuel filter. Has it ever been replaced? They are cheap and you may be able to find a friend to replace it.

Yes, the Haynes Manual on your vehicle or the Chilton's manual on your vehicle with have a vacum diagram. Both are available at Amazon.com or your local Auto parts stores. They run about $20.

Possibly the catylatic converter look under vehicle at night after car has been running for at least 10 minutes see if the converter is bright red if so it needs replaced

check if you have a spark when engine dies. if not, check the rpm sensor or ignition coil. both have the simptoms like you describe.

1989 Chrysler 2.5 L Turbo has a duel hall effect pick-up in the distributor. It is possible that the pick-up is not working. A "start and stall" indicates that this may be the problem.
Another problem may be the fuel system. Check fuel pressure with key on... should be 40-50 psi on multi-port. 30-40 on TBI
PS If the auto shutdown relay quit then you would not get a start at all. PSS oil pressure will cause a similer problem
