A car with a timing belt will jump time for several reasons, the belt dries out and the teeth strip off the belt, the tensioner or guide wear and fail, the belt can stretch over the years causing it to jump the sprockets. A car with a timing chain can jump because many were made with cam gears that had plastic teeth and they wore out, or the gear was made out of a casting that wore out, or the chain stretched replacement cam gears were usually made out of steel. Why do the lights come on and off after I shut car and lights off in my 1998 dodge van and then the car wont start in the morning?

Well the car wont start in the morning, becuz its draining the batteryfrom the lights coming off and on. But the reason ur lights r coming off and on when the car is turned off is there is a short in the wiring from the headlight switch to the steering wheel iignition. There are several wires that are ran from the ignition switch to various things in the car. Such as windsheild wipers, headlights, turn signals... which is why these things generally work only when ur ignition is engaged. The wires could be pinched which could cause the short, if ur in the habit of raising ur steering wheel up and down alot. Kind of like a pinched nerve. The steering colum is going to need removed to trace and straighten out the wiring to properly fix the short thats causing ur lights to go off and on all the time.

What are common problems with the '89 Collection Rouge v12

Some of the most common problems I encountered with my 1984 V12 (most of which you will find on yours):
  1. Electrical wiring faults, especially poor ground connections (thanks to Lucas Electric);
  2. Misadjustment of the two throttle butterflies (tricky adjustment for mechanics who do not understand it);
  3. Engine computer failure. THIS HAPPENS 100% OF THE TIME WHEN THE CAR IS JUMP-STARTED USING A STANDARD JUMP START CART!!! DO NOT LET ANYONE JUMP START YOUR CAR USING AN A/C POWERED JUMP START CART.
  4. Failure of the fuel injector lines causing serious engine fires;
  5. Poor fuel economy, often under 10 m.p.g. in-town (nothing you can do about this);
  6. Rough idle caused by bad spark plug wires, followed by failure of the ignition coil;
  7. Starter failure (annoying and happens without warning);
  8. Leaky valve cover gaskets;
  9. Failure of the plastic cooling fan (it flies apart when it gets old... replace with a non-plastic fan if possible);
  10. Lack of performance due to the car never being "opened up." (You need to drive it hard & fast sometimes.)

1994 jeep cherokee (5spd) wont start

Yah sure check the fuel pressure on the manifold, ur belt tension and altenator. But a very common problem with jeeps is the crankshaft positioning sensor. Check and make sure ur gettin fire. If ur not could also b the ignition control module in the distribitor.

What makes a isuzu rodeo jump time after new tensioner and timing belt replacement please help

Wrong belt. Check with parts store make sure you got the right belt. If that's not the case then one of your pulleys are worn out and causing it to jump time

My 1986 monte carlo wont stay running. It starts up and stops running when i push on the gas it loses power then stalls. I changed the fuel filter, new plugs and wires. i took off my cat to see if it was...

I know you say your timing seems fine but there is not too much that can cause this to happen with theses older car. My first thought was the timing chain might have jumped a tooth causing your cam timing to be off. This is like the only thing I have seen cause this problem with a 305 or 350 I would be checking the timing marks under the water pump to make sure it did not jump they are super easy to get to on theses cars.

2003 alero won,t start

does the car crank or not?? if it cranks and doesnt start it could be a couple things. could be fuel pump is bad or could be an ignition problem and ur not gettin spark in ur sparkplugs. if nothing happens when u turn ur key its more than likely that ur starter is bad. if this doesnt help im sorry but this is the only thing i can think of.
