I have a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer 4WD and there seems to be a new noise coming from just below the shifter {outside noise}. It sounds like something is winding up when you accelerate and stays at certain sound levels at certain rpms but reduces as you reduce speed. It does not make this noise while at idle or when in park , even if you rev it a bit. Just curious to see if it may be low fluid levels in the front differental or transfer case. Your imput would be appreciated

SOURCE: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer - winding noise

I went to the dealer to check on the price for the idle pulley and they said that was waht the problem was. The quote from them was $99 for Labor and $38 for the pulley..Solution $18.00 at the parts store and 20 min from my hubby and it is fixed. The only problem with the pulley form the auto parts is that the original washer won't fit in the hole so we had to but a seperate washer. Runs great now I just have to find a solution to the gas gauge and fuel sensor.

SOURCE: fluid leaking onto the front passenger side floorboards.

2004 TB 60,000 miles. i was just told that the leaking fluid in my passenger side floorboard was do to a clogged up A/c hose. An A/C works by drying/ removing the moisture from the air inside the vehicle and cooling it. The accumulated fluid is usually evacuated under the vehicle which is what you see when people are stopped at a red light and there is dripping under their car. when a hose is blocked there is a vent that from some reason flows directly into the passenger side floor board. If you can not manually knock loose the block your probably going to have to take it to a mechanic.

SOURCE: what type/brand of transfer case fluid is recommended & quantity

Auto tek fluid, it's blue, you get at your dealer only. If you don't spill a drop you will only need 2 qrts. if you spill just a little then it won't be full and you'll end up needing 2.03 qrts.

SOURCE: front drive shaft/transfer case removal 03 chevy trailblazer 4wd

Sounds like you got it. They are heavy and ocward (spelling?). As for the front drive shaft take the bolts out and give it a couple of wacks with a dead blow hammer then slide it out. Maybe a few days before hand give it a good spray down with wd40 or like product. Also when you get to the last bolt for the t-case to trans loosen it half way then put a drain bucket under it and seperate it a little and let the trans fluid drain some, or you will be wearing it.

If you get a 4 foot length of 1\4" clear plastic hose, you can put one end in you ear and use it as a stethoscope to track down the humming. The closer you get, the louder the noise will become.

2004 Chevy trailblazer ext center floor shift console, what is the round knob on the left side of the gear shifter

A few question to see if I can help. Could you possibly post a photo of this knob in the comment section below? Is yours a manual or automatic transmission? Is there any markings on or near the knob? Is it a lever like a gear shifter or a twist/ rocker switch type?

I can shift into drive but it won't engage

sounds like a broken shift cable. (the connection between the shifter and the gearbox) common symptoms are the shifter move easier than normal.and does not move to any gears (not even park or neutral).

04 trailblazer front wheels grind after using 4wd?

You probably have a front drive splined disconnect assembly that has gone bad. This assembly engages the front differential when 4WD is selected. Below is a figure of the item, it is on the passenger side of the differential area.

I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer LS with strange noise.....

If it is making a noise in the belt area, have them check the water pump. These get loose water pump bearings that cause belt noise.

In 4WD i'm hearing a moaning sort of noise

four wheel drive is not meant for pavement, your front end is geared faster than the rear so it will pull you. if you used your four wheel on any good traction area you may have damaged the clutch discs in the transfer case
