If the BCM has been replaced, the BCM has to be reprogrammed by a dealer as it control many car functions.

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

SOURCE: 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SSE wont start.

Hello, you seem to have a problem with your anti-theft system the ignition lock cylinder has two wires that are very small and are common at breaking because every time the ignition switch turns the are being rocked back and forth, or either there is a malfunction in your key, but odds are you will be replacing the cylinder. You will also have to have a new key made. This fix is kind of exspensive so I would advise you to let the dealer do it. Besides when putting the switch in it could be possible to damage the new one so let them have that headache. Thank You

SOURCE: Where is the starter relay on a 1996 Buick LeSabre

ok. the relay is under dash drivers side left of the steering column. now first check for power with key in the start position. at the heavy yellow wire at the relay and then check the purple wire if both have power then your neutral safety switch mybe at fault. check it as well. check for power at the switch bolted to transmission. the two heavy wires going to the switch will be starter in and starter out. so check for power at the two there if power goes in but nothing comes out the change the neutral safety switch.

SOURCE: engine shutdown while driving, check engine light

Try turning the advance-trac off. If you have a systems menu (Should be right side of Speedo) you have options for Park assist, bells ,chimes and so on. One selection is the Traction. The traction assist works by throttling down the engine when it detects a difference in rotation from 1 wheel to the next.

You need a scan for the codes but your hunk of metal is not able to go to Autozone or Oreillys until you start it.

You may also want to try to enter the keyless entry code in the door keypad in case the antitheft is upset. Your alarm may block the ignition.

Defeating the traction control and alarm system may get you going.

You are going to have to do some trouble shooting with a 12 volt meter. If you don't have one borrow one or buy one.Follow the positive wire from the battery to the starter solenoid.Check to see you have 12 volts going into the solenoid from the battery. If you don't the wire may be rotted out on the inside. Have someone advance the key and check to see if you have 12 volts going to one of the smaller wires on the solenoid when the key is turned. If there is a yes to both of these and the starter will not crank the engine over then I believe you have a bad starter solenoid and you will need to replace the starter/solenoid . The fact that it will crank the engine when you jump across the starter more or less cinches it for me. Good Luck

The Buick's engine does not crank when I try to start it. There is a clicking sound when I try to start it, but the engine doesn't turn over. What Do You Think?

The starter is bad or the battery is dead. If the battery is fully charged then the starter needs replaced. The solenoid inside of it is clicking

When i turn the key on the engine starts but when i let go of the key the engine dies

I think your ignition switch is bad. The car is starting and running for a couple of seconds, right? Not just cranking with no fire? Can you put key in on position and jump starter externally? If you can jump starter but car won't run then definately problem in ignition switch.

Car will not crank. I can jump across he starter and it will start for 2 seconds.

Do your keys have a little resistor pellet in them. The problem sounds like the security system.

1996 LeSabre Engine will not crank over

This fix was for a 1996 Buick LeSabre.
I found the key reader in the ignition switch was faulty.
Made up a resistor pack to match the key resistance, cut the orange wire which comes out of the steering coloumn (it contains two white wires) from the reader to the VATS module and soldered it into the two white wires going into the VATS module.
This bypasses the security system so now any properly cut key will start the car.
