Tip & How-To about 1988 BMW M5

Attention to spark plugs

Pay attention to what spark plug comes from what cylinder, and save the old spark plugs. The cylinders are numbered from 1 to 8 as follows: Front of car Left side - right side Cylinder Bank 2 - Cyliner Bank 1 5 - 1, 6 - 2, 7 - 3, 8 - 4, Rear of car. The reason for keeping track of the old spark-plugs is it can later provide important information to a person who knows how to "read" spark-plugs, if the engine ever develops a problem. Also it is good practice to put the coils back in the same places those were.

Early hemi distributor cap number 1

cylinders 1 to 7 are on the drivers side 1-3-5-7 (front to rear)
cylinders 2 to 4 are on the passenger side 2-4-6-8 (front to rear)

the distributor is numbered 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a counterclockwise rotation, pick a distributor terminal that is somewhat in line (line drawn thru the centre of the distributor to the #1 cylinder, the distributor terminal closest to this line is marked #1). connect a spark plug wire from the #1 distributor terminal to the spark plug. In a counterclockwise rotation move to the next distributor terminal, this is #8 (follow the firing order), the next terminal after #8 is #4 and so on. Confusing, yes...but it will come to you. Hope this is what you are asking for..

chevy 95 g20 van 8 cylinder wiring order spark plugs

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 The #1 spark plug is the front spark plug on the drivers side and the cylinder location in order from front to back on the drivers side is 1-3-5-7 and on the passenger side it is 2-4-6-8. The ignition rotor rotation is clockwise.

If your Distributor cap is not numbered then replace the new wires, or transfer the old ones to the new distributor cap one wire at a time. Identify the #1 spark plug wire and start from there.

I have a code misfire cylinder 5 and I am not sure where cylinder 5 is on my engine and it runs like **** and when i give it gas Service engine soon light comes on. specs: 2000 v8 8.1 litre gas Vortec 8100 Hoping it is a plug or wire I here that each cylinder has its own coil and there expencive.

Cylinder numbering for your engine is 1-3-5-7 on the left hand bank and 2-4-6-8 on the right hand bank (passenger side). To be sure where number 1 is look across the cylinder heads number 1 cylinder is always the head that is furthest ahead towards the front of the vehiclek, then count 3 cylinders back on that side, should be left, and that should be number 5. pull the spark plug first and check it and at the same time pull number 3 's plug and swap the coils from 5 to 3. If the plugs are bad replace them all. Then run the vehicle and see if the misfire code followed the coil to number 3, if it does you know you have a bad coil, they usually run about 90 - 100 bucks each, that is if the plugs or wire wasn't the problem. hope this will help you. good luck.

change sparks plugs on 06 hyundai sonata v6

You didn't specify whether you have the (4) cylinder or the (6) cylinder engine..... I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L 4 cylinder and I just changed the spark plugs in it. I believe that the 2005 2.4L engine is the same. To locate and change the (4) spark plugs on a 2004 Hyundai 2.4L 4 cylinder engine: Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way. Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed. Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right. Starting with the fist spark plug on the left: Remove the spark plug cable by pulling straight up on the insulated connector. Using a spark plug socket, remove the old spark plug and install a new one in it's place. To access the second spark plug from the left, remove the electrical connector and the spark plug cable wire from coil number (1) and then remove the (2) 12mm bolts that secure the coil to the engine. Spark plug number (2) is located directly under the coil. Lift the coil straight up removing the insulated connector from spark plug number (2). Using a spark plug socket, remove old spark and install a new one in it's place. Repeat same procedures for spark plugs number (3) and (4). Note: If you have the (6) cylinder engine, the front (3) sparks pluge are readilly accessible but in order to access the (3) rear spark plugs, you will have to remove the intake manifold
