I bought a 2003 S

The list could be endless. Check fuel line and also reset cut out in foot well in case this tripped when the car went off road. Also behind the front bodywork are some cables that often cause problems with corrosion - maybe these have been damaged? Next step is to hook up a reader and see whats really going on - Good luck - hope you get sorted.

I have an xj sovereign

Hi, the dynamic stability control system is a safety feature, but the car will run fine without it. The problem is difficult to diagnose without special equipment. What I recommend is to have the system scanned the next time you visit the dealer service department. If you can send us the trouble code or results of the scan, we may be able to advise you on needed repairs to fully restore operation of your stability control system.

2003 jaguar s type. unplugged the battery to try

Hi
The car is looking for you to enter the security (anti-theft) code for the radio.
If power is removed (battery disconnected), radio assumes it has been taken from the car and protects itself by means of security code. You should have a small ( credit card size ) security card with the radio code written on it. The instructions for entering the code is in your owners manual.

Regards
Martin

I started my S-Type V8 4.2 last night and it shut

This sounds like a bad battery! A battery that is on its last day will surely do this to a vehicle. Sometimes with no warning.

How to find a bluetooth

hi.
the manual is available form ebay, usually for under £5.
i would advise you to check with your jaguar dealer first though, as quite a lot of s and x types (mine included) had the radio, and all the keys to suggest the blue tooth connection, but did not actually have the blue tooth connection unit fitted.
your dealer will be able to tell you if your car actually had the unit fitted, or if the keypad that you can see fitted in your console is just there to fill up the space.

I have a jaguar s type 2003 model 2.5ltre which

Valve covers (or Rocker covers) are notorious for oil leaks on many types of cars. (Dont know yours) BUT If it is hot enough to boil oil, you have a serious FIRE Hazard ! That could easily burst into flame any time.

Are you sure its not water seeping out of the head gasket? That would readily sizzle on the heat shield and constantly sound like boiling water. Makes more sense to me.

What type of Jag dealer would miss this? Six times ! I would try a reputable local mechanic.
good luck

Have code on my 03 Jaguar p0420 can someone plz

P0420 = Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 1) - possible sensor fault ?
P1111 = Intake air temperature ( IAT ) Sensor circuit intermittent high voltage - again a possible sensor or cable fault.
Take the car to a reputable repair shop and they will be able to confirm the faults by testing.
Hope this helps - good luck.

How do you replace the thermostat

typically, locate the upper hose that connects to the radiator and goes back to the engine. Disconnect the hose from the motor and remove the coupling cap it is attached to. The thermostat is normally located under that. Remove all the old seal from both the coupler and the engine block, place teh new thermostat in place, put the seal in place and replace the coupler. Once you have it tightened down, replace the hose and fill the radiator then start and run the vehicle till the temp gauge goes up about mid way, check for leaks and correct as needed, top the radiator off one last time. If there is a burp valve, typically located on top of that coupler and looks like a plug. Loosen the valve to allow any air out of the system while the motor is running. Make sure the over flow tank is full when you do this. I'm not sure if your vehicle has one, I usually see them on Nissan and Toyota vehicles and have seen one on a BMW but not all models.

03 s type jaguar ABS light comes on and on the odd

Welcome to Fixya

Usually it is a wheel speed sensor or brake switch that causes the light to come on. When those warning do come on the ABS module and Electronic Park Brake module will store fault codes. These codes will need to be read with a Jag factory scan tool. You can try to reset the system yourself but those warning messages may return.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. Then reconnect it and start the engine. It will say "Apply park brake" on the message center. Pump the brakes then while holding your foot on the brake pedal pull up on the park brake switch handle. This should reset the brake and may rectify the problem. Make sure that you have your radio code before disconnecting the battery and once reconnected you will have to relearn the windows. To do this press and hold the window switches in the down position and hold them there for 2 seconds. Then press and hold the window switches in the up position until all the windows are closed. Then hold the switch in the up position for another 2 seconds and the auto up should be relearned.
