1997 Lexus LS400 electrical problems
The short answer to you question is yes, eventually. The transmission fluid on the wires can harden the insulation on the wires which then cracks when the wires flex and at that point it can short out. The lights dimming and the wipers slowing are indications of a high power draw and add to that it gets worse when it's wet make it a lock that you have, probably, bad wires. Carefully inspect the full length of the wires. If you find cracked or worn insulation either repair the short if it is worn or replace the wiring harness if the insulation is at all cracked. Most likely it will be a major power line. Good luck.

Car over heating and radiator fan not running
it must be an electric fan correct. ok to find out if the fan is bad a quick easy test. first with car off and the key in the on position turn the climate control to a/c position one of the fans should start spinning. mark the fan so that you know it is good now turn key off unplug the wire harness from the good fan and plug it into the other fan turn the key on and see if the other fan turns on then you know that both fans are good. then move to all the fuses and make sure they are not blown. there maybe more than one location for the fuses. you then will have to do a little wire chaseing to see if the fan motor relay needs to be replaced or it might even be that the coolant temp sensor is bad also make sure that your thermo stat is not stuck closed. happy hunting hope this helps
Engine will not turn over.
this could be many problems. 1 battery 2 the starter if the engine clicks when u turn the key u have a dead battery. if it does not click and still does not turn over even after u tried to charge the battery then u have a bad starter.
I have a 1997 ls400
This may not be an actual problem, but rather it is likely normal. What is important is do the cooling fan(s) come on, and when they do, does that stop the heating up?
If fans work properly, are you making ENOUGH temperature? have you replaced the thermostat, lately? My thought is for generating enough heat, and not causing the overheating.....although the thermostat certainly can make overheat, I just doubt it in your case.
Steering column wont auto adjust in the heat?
Check the fluid level and the condition of the fluid for your power steering pump. If the fluid is low or bad the pump will not operate properly causing all sorts of steering problems. i hope that this helps you out!
Horn wont work on LS 400 1997 Lexus Horn fuse and
Are clocksprings plugged in all the way? In my last car the horn started to fail and I checked everything then decided to just push in the connectors some more. Then my problem was solved. They were just a little loose getting voltage from the wires going to the horns, changed the horns and all was well. Sounds like a wiring problem in your case. Are you not getting any voltage to relay trigger when horn is pressed?
How do you fix the heated seats that no longer
Check the fuses obviously, and then check for power at the plug for the seat heater. It is common for the seat heater elements to go bad, however recently universal heating pads have become available through the dorman company. To replace them is a rather involved procedure. You must remove the seat, remove the cover, and replace the heating pad element. It kind of sucks even for an experienced tech. Good luck!
How to fix a seat
it is twenty years old. try and find a replacement seat at a junkyard or on ebay. you are not going to get it fixed for less than the price of a used seat.
What is the procedure to change a burned out break
Look in the trunk for the plastic access panels. Remove the side that has the burnt out bulb. Locate the bulb holder that holds the burnt out bulb. Grasp it in one hand and turn it counter clockwise until it becomes loose enough to remove it. Once you have it out, remove the bad bulb and insert the new one. You will have to push in on the bulb and turn it a little counter clockwise to get it lined up to slide out. Assembly is the reverse of what you just did.
