My 96 crown vic only has 61000 miles. when i am

You may have a dirty MAF, Mass Air FLow Sensor. Clean with MAF cleaner or spray carb cleaner on the glass resistor wires. They affect fuel ratio. It is in the air intake tube and has a 2 wire connector. The wires that need cleaning are on the inside. Clean carefully, delicate. Disconnect battery fo 2 hours to clear computer memory. Drive for 10 miles to relearn.

For the attention of tone2121 where would the

the condenser is in front of the radiator. you removed the thermostat and the car is still overheating? have the temperature checked with an infra red thermometer. looks like a gun. you just point the beam at the thermostat housing and it gives you the actual temperature. only takes a second. maybe the gage or the gage sending unit it bad.

I have an ex police crown vic 1997 it appears to

it's funny to be reading about a similar situation i'm having. i also have a '97 crown vic, bought at a municipal auction.
of course, running the a/c should put more load on the engine and produce more heat. but not enough to be concerned about. if you car seems to be overheating, the thermostat could be to blame.
while diagnosing a different matter, i noticed the coolant temperature at one point reached 217 F. i'm going to replace the thermostat as it may only be opening partialy. my temp gage is normally just above the half way point between the high and low marks. it hasn't gone any further towards the high temp mark to be alarming.
where is the needle pointing on your gage? have you replaced the thermostat?

How do I recharge the ac with the kit

The kit will have full instructions included. The important thing is to tap into the LOW side of the A/C ...NOT the high side. The low side port is located between the compressor and the accumulator. The low side port also has a blue/light blue cap over the valve. The high side has a red cap.

Wont start or crank

I hate to say this but you may have a seized engine.
I recommend you take it to a repair shop and have them look into this possibility.
If Battery is new , starter is new, assumption that cables and wiring are in good condition and all your getting is a click not even a crank ... then either they gave you a bad starter or high resistance or a seized engine one of the three.

I would replace the fuel filter, check the air filter also. The fuel filter is often overlooked. They should be changed every 20,000 miles or so.
