Black smoke is coming out the exhaust, cuts off
black smoke is never a good thing, and over heating adds to that . your going to have to do a compression test on all the cylinders , It sounds like you have bad rings, blown gasket,, and or both,, the compression test will limit the problems to a specific thing,
Would this problem be a
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You have a small port on your fuel rail on the engine that you test fuel pressure at. It almost looks like the valve of your tire. You test the pressure there. You may have a leaking fuel injector or pinched gas line since the filter and pump are working. If you have a fuel pump reset button, try that. Check your fuel pump fuse and relay just to be sure.

Is your coolent level low ? If low on water it will make your heater not get not. This is one of many possabilitys. good luck to you.
I have a 92 corsica
if the battery voltage is not at full voltage this can cause a poor spark.this needs to be checked first as without proper voltage all testing is not accurate,i`m guessing that you have no check engine light on the dash when it was running so this eliminates a possible code set in the computer.if you check the connections at the icm and make sure they are clean as they get alot of debris thrown at them aver the year because of were they are mounted.were these new components when you changed them or used, this is a common problem with this system.you don`t say if cylinders 1-3-5 have any spark of any kind.it sounds like you may have a bad icm as you say cylinders 4-6 are weak spark and nothing from #2.without checking this out it sounds as the crank and cam sensor is working or you wouldn`t have any kind of spark.this narrows it down to icm or poor coils however it is very rare that 3 coils would all of a sudden go bad, again this indicates a bad icm
When I turn the heater
All heater fan motors are electric with no belt. They squeak when the motors are wearing out. If you look on your firewall, you will see the round fan with possibly a rubber hose sticking out the bottom. There are many pics online that will show you what it looks like. It is very easy to remove and reinstall
The engine seems to be
if the fans were working good before. check the fuses or fan relay in fuse box. if ok. see if power is getting to fan( car on engine off ) at the fan connection. to test fans if need be. run a wire from positive on fan motor to positive on battery, then ground other connection to a suitable ground or the negative post on battery. if the fans are ok. here are a few causes--- defective thermostat stuck open ( engine does not get hot enough to turn fan on ) . a failed fan relay, or a bad fan motor! or engine coolant tempurature sensor is bad. have a good day !!

well most likely you are going to have to pull the dash out like most other cars. get a repair manual or take a search on youtube.com for videos. it sits in the heater box which is almost always above the front passenger footwell behind the glovebox.
My corsica is v6 3.1 L starts up perfect and
If it is starting great when it is cold then dies at normal operating temperature then the IAC valve (electronic choke) is highly suspect and the simplest thing first to check I think is best...this is the most common culprit after warmup.
My only other thought is that after normal operating temperature is reached then the PCM (or called ECU on some) is giving the incorrect fuel delivery for your long term fuel trims. Or if it has a two speed fuel pump that switches to low when out of warm up mode, and low mode is not functioning.
The electronic choke is how the engine is getting air when it is in park or any other time the throttle is closed. It gets dirty with carbon and when hot becomes sticky...so then the valve cannot open when it is signaled to. It is very easy for this to happen as often as every few months.
Remove the valve from the throttle body and with some alcohol and toothbrush you can clean the pintle. Also clean the throttle body plate and bore, and the IAC valve bore as well. Hopefully this solves your problem.
I have a '92 Corsica
probably has a crank sensor on the back side of the motor toward the tranny, if not bolted on the tranny bellhousing. if that thing goes bad, it wont fire. it should have 2 wires going to it and usually one bolt holding it in.
