98 Mazda 626 ES, OD light flashing, and speedomoter stop working

I noticed about 2 weeks ago that when driving for 1hr or so my Speedomoter would stop working and just sit at 0 Mph shortly after the OD light starts flashing on and off. Everyone know and then it does an unusual shift and i drop to a lower gear for no reason. Lately its been failing more often and the speedometer stops working after 30 mins. My sisters boyfriend said it had to do with the gear in the transmission that tells the computer the speed and its failing and as a result OD is failing and the computer cant tell when to correctly shift. If this is the answer were would go to a mazda dealership or any garage. My friend owns one and if its not that hard of a fix could we possibly replace it. Any help would be appreciated

Check the Fuel injection system (injectors) and the intake manifold. It might also be wise to check the alternator as well as the starter coil and also the electronic distributor

Mazda 626 'HOLD' light after gear box oil seal was replaced

I recently replaced the gear box oil seal of my 1998 Mazda 626. The first test drive after the replacement, the 'HOLD' light started blinking, the rpms went up to 3000 at speed of 80 km/h, and the car couldn't accelerate after that. The gear shifted up to only gear 2 and there was this strong smell of burning metal. We put in more ATF, but the 'HOLD' light still came on(blinking), the first gear shift is rough, rpms still high at low speed, the engine temperature shoots up but the coolant is full. Surprisingly, driving at speeds of 20-30 km/hr the 'HOLD' light doesn't come on, but once speed is increased the 'HOLD' light starts to flash and if I drive for a long time the car then decelerates by itself until it comes to a complete stop (even if I depress the gas pedal it doesn't move an inch!). I'm at a loss what could have gone wrong during the oil seal change because the car transmission was fine before, please help!!!

how do I replace the front wheel bearings on a Mazda 626 1998

how do I replace the front wheel bearings on a Mazda 626 1998

The front bearings on a mazda 626 are sealed and you must remove the entire hub assembly to have a shop or dealer install the bearings. The hardest part is you need to remove the center axel nut and it is very tight and is called a stake nut. If you do not have a fairly good amout of skill at repairs, this is one job that is safest left to the pros. Just one missed step can create more damage than you could beleive.

how do i replace the fuel pump in my 1998 mazda 626 LTD through the back sets or do i have to take the tank out

You will definately have to drop the tank. Remove gas cap to relieve pressure, then remove gas lines, gas straps, remove bolts, lower tank. Use only a BRASS punch and hammer and knock ring loose counter clockwise, then pump and sending unit will pull out. and you can disconnect and change your pump.
